I shot the monthly Quattro Lodge 100 sporting yesterday. Very few long targets with probably 15 of 20 presentations being short to medium technical targets with a few being wind affected changing the target with every shot. 8 & 9/10s and straights for nearly every stand but fell over on a super sporting stand with a 4/10 and couldn't find a quartering away long crosser on stand 10. A very enjoyable shoot nonetheless. I finished on 81/100 with high gun being 91/100. I made the top 10 scoreboard at least..

Clever set of targets, with the tougher targets, stand 6-10, I missed the first 2 Quartering away, changed gun hold further out and nailed the next 3. I thought the high incoming crows st 9 was very interesting, wind certainly changing them around!! 👍

Yes, the simmo pair of crows were very changeable depending on how the wind was at the time. They caught a few people out as they were effectively a static target with some fade to the left or right depending on the wind and no two pairs being the same. I personally found it much easier to close my off eye and shoot them as if I was shooting a rifle.

There was a very similar long crow on the one of the earlier stands paired with a L-R fast crosser. That crosser was tricky moving very fast and appearing suddenly over the top of the trees with a not quite straight line to it. Pair that with the fact the stand was based behind a 7ft wall/ butt type thing limiting your field of view, I saw quite a few completely caught out by it and trying to snap shoot it.

Some were also caught out by the looper on stand 3 which, depending on what time of day you shot it, was completely obscured by the sun.

EJ Churchills for me today. Had the pleasure of Bebo on our squad. Always nice to shoot with fellow forum members.

Typical EJC course, although softer than usual. Had my gun fit assessed last week, which had now resulted in a stock that is 15-1/2" rather than the 16" I've been swinging around the last few years. Also persuaded to shoot gun down, instead of my previously shouldered, but face off the stock approach. So in I went, gun down (FITASC amount down 🫣).

Started off out the gate pretty well, dropping the odd 1s, then on stand 5? or 6? the wheels fell off. Had one of them "I have no idea what I'm doing moments, and gave plenty of lead to targets that required almost none. Dropped 5 on one stand.

Finished on an 81, which although is around my average, I'm still kicking myself for trashing one stand. Think I'm going to prefer the gun down approach though, given some more time for it to sink in.

High gun when I left was a fantastic 99. Top bombing from Bebo too, who showed the rest of our squad how to do it.

Think your bad stand was 6, mine was 5. Pleasure shooting with you today. As you say, a bit softer than the last one but it wasn't a round of gimmes. Still stuff there to trip you up.
 
Barbury for me today, what was supposed to a fairly dry day turned out to be nothing of the sort. Gusty winds and driving rain really made some clays dance about.
High gun was 95 which considering the conditions was some shooting.
I was glad to finish on 72 and drowned my sorrows with a decent brew and a sausage bap 😉
 
AGL for us yesterday and it wasn’t great! Started raining as we got to stand 1 and didn’t stop really. 6 or 7 of the stands were in the high wooden stands and they are just too bloody high for us shorties, especially when the targets are dropping etc. got to stand 5 (the tower) and it packed up as the first shooter got in, hung around and then another 2 squads turned up so we shot 6 first as it was opposite 5 then shot 5! Got to stand 8, I was first up, shot that then 2nd shooter got in and first trap packed up. By this time it was cold and really wet. We again hung around, one shooter went home after 1/2 hour, other squads turned up and they went off to do other stands. We waited at least 40 mins then we went off and done other stands and kept going back in between. Done 11, went back to be told it was nearly ready but at least a 45 minute wait so we done 12 and went home. Light was fading and we were wet and cold.
Didn’t shoot that bad but the wooden high stands do my head in,
 
I did AGL yesterday as well. Probably shot it earlier than you as the rain was just starting as we finished Stand 12. I can't say I thought it was the best set of targets out there. Overly dominated by going aways and they had a couple of sim pairs that I thought were a bit daft. Other stands that were shot on report would have been more suited to a sim. A daft midi target on the grouse butt as well. I did OK on parts of the course, but not so great on others and let more slip than I should have towards the end. Finished on 74, but with a bit more focus at the end should really have been a high 70s result.
 
It’s cold but the sun is shining in the NorthEast so I’m off for a bit of sporting and skeet. Enjoy your shooting, everyone.
 
43/50 on sporting and I’m quite happy with that. No skeet on today so tried my arm at DTL. Not the greatest with 16/25 but I’ve got to start somewhere.
 
Me & Izzy (daughter) shot AGL as well on Friday - 12.40 start time so a bit of rain towards the end.

The layout was Ok but I didn't have a great day and was surprised with 77 - Izzy was 58 though our scores are not yet posted so that's from memory.

Izzy is also short (5-1) and was often looking around for a box - being in the dungeon of doom certainly affected her shooting. First time there however and both of us did like the ground - Izzy will be working in St Albans soon, so it overall got a big tick as her potential local and not too far for me to travel (hour & fifteen).

I did Hangman's stone sporting clays today, arrived at 10am, about 3 degrees C and the car park was packed to the gunnels.
It was a typical Sean Ponting layout, you start out with a couple of easy-ish stands which is a very nice way to ease you into things, Stand three steps up the game a little then stand four pretty full on with an on-report ballistic L to R which I have never really got to grips with in the past so I was pretty chuffed with 5/8. The worst stand for me was 7 where I missed all four of the first of a pair, luckily I hit the other four. There was the usual mix of long, fast targets and others that demanded your full attention or you paid the price.
I paid the price quite a few times and ended up below average with 80, TBH I'm always happy with 80+ at Sean's shoots (the other is Gunsite.) For me it's not a high scoring shoot but breaking some of those targets is very satisfying and I had a great time.
I was following Richard Faulds round on some stands and It was great to see how it should be done and he won with an amazing 99 🙏

Glad she shot well, none of our scores are up either. I did wonder if it was because I was the only one on our squad who actually done the whole course, the others never got to shoot the stand that broke down.
I am only 4’11” and do struggle in those wooden stands, I end up having to stand back as far as possible but it’s not ideal! We started about 1.20 just as the rain appeared!

I shot it today after halfway round I realised that 15 years in A class has been false and I should have been in C class all along.
 
Shot the Bictsf Compak at EJC today. Early start first set of squads, nippy and got colder. First layout for us was 4 and it was 1 single and 2 sim pairs. We were unfortunate as we had to stop 4 times as we had breakdowns. Managed 21 though so not unhappy. Then shot on the two skeet layouts 22 and 23. This meant my last layout was the British Shooting layout which I have a real dislike of as you can get quite a few orange on there and not my cup of tea and thought I’ll just muck this up but I managed a 20 despite 4 orange. 86/100 which I was pleased with, a good result that took me back to better days.
