sorry I mis read it then, thought you were refitting the gt barrels to your action

So if you can get say £900 min ? for your 29'' gun as has been suggested, that's a £600 outlay to get you back to a gun with your wood, trigger and Teagued, good outcome by my reckoning from when you first posted

 I shoot a trap not a sporter.
forgive my ignorance, just trying to get it clear, but if you bought the new gun be it an already Teaque multi choked sporter but with the full Miroku warranty as I suggested, then put your wood on it would it not then become the same as the trap version with after market Teaque chokes?

possibly with no center bead.

the factory miroku teague sporters are heavier at the muzzle , hence why a lot prefer a trap thats been thin wall teagued . other wise you need to add weight to the stock to balance the gun and it just doesnt feel the same even when done.

IMO chokes are a distant second to having rhe stock dimensions of the trap.

agree, but the front nose weight/balance of a factory sporter with teagues is not for me, interestingly if you fit teague titanium its a differanr ball game, but spendy !

Success guys and gals!

Bought a little used used MK38 from Matt at Premier Guns Doveridge today for a snip - off to Teague for the next part of the process. Donor time!

With some blinding luck I might actually be shooting this side of Christmas.

I won't be out shooting until January - the work I'm told is now complete to both guns (carried out by BWM) however there's no capacity for Teague to have the proofing done until the NY.

I am literally counting down the days.. withdrawal isn't the word 🤣

Pity about that Ant, but at least you have a good New year to look forward too

I'm sure someone will borrow you a gun, or they could take you so your the trap release guy in the group

How Covid safe would that be a, dedicated trap person 🤣

Good luck with the absence of clays, not nice to have to wait longer if you were hoping to shoot your 'new' gun over Christmas.

I'm literally watching paint (well, oil) dry as I want to take out S/H-er tomorrow, but impatiently decided to give the stock a spruce-up. The rest needed disassembly for a proper cleaning anyhow. But now I don't think I'll be shooting it tomorrow, as the top coat needs more time to dry.

Ant.

Given they have cut the old barrel down, will Teague send you the bit at the end with the choke stuck in it. I would be interested in seeing a photograph up its arse so to speak.

I bet that won't happen 😉😁

to late now you have done the deal, but I quoted for a new 'new' grade 1 sporter already Teaque multi choked at £1660 with warranty sourced from Guntrader not a dog of a second hand one for £900. which is probably the minimum that you could get for your complete 29" barrelled gun.
An MK38 sporter comes with inv+ chokes fitted to a much heavier set of barrels and handles completely differently to an MK38 trap fixed choke gun which has lighter barrels and fitted with custom fitted chokes.

Lack of understanding of different models on your behalf makes you think you are right when you are totally wrong.

Ants will be a beautifully balanced and responsive gun,the one you suggest a bit nose heavy and not in the same league for feel and handling.

I,d keep the skeet gun Ants, you might take it up in your dotage😁

Hi chaps!

I didn’t think to ask for the removed part - good call maybe I will see if it’s still floating around.

Not too long to wait now!

Monday 4th both guns will be multi-choked, off to the proof house on the 12th and then back with Teague on the 19th. Meaning w/c 18th I should finally have them back! 4+ months of zero shooting. Nearly 30% of my entire shooting career 😄 Get them back just in time for a complete national lockdown I’m sure. 🙈

In terms of the spare I plan to strip and refinish the wood (something I just enjoy) and then I’ll make a decision afterwards in terms of whether to sell or not. Most likely I will and the fact it’ll be varnish free will help.

Oh and @schmokinn I agree 100% 👍

I was not suggesting that is what he should buy, was just putting it out there.

I know about the so called handling  of the gun, back in the 80's my pal a serial gun changer settled on the fixed choke 32" trap, sung its praises, he used it for everything, even won some championship skeet comp at westhoughton with it 3/4 and full, just never liked brownings, have a 725 just for when its raining and duck shooting, does its job but...

Your statement suggests otherwise...

I don't think the factory Miroku "Teague" gun has Teague thin wall choke - just that its supplied with Extended Teague chokes for the guns original invector (maybe now plus ?) choke system. I stand to be corrected on this point however.

Not hard to do and quite rewarding, I enjoy same. Sorry to hear you’re still in involuntary withdrawal, hope you get a chance to make up for it soon. Four months would have me near a mandatory stay “with the nice doctors”.
