Nice shooting with you Simster
, you did great on the Red course.
The Essex Masters gets a bit better every year, really good target set up, great variety, great distances, effortless organisation and lovely Land Rover lifts too. The odd thing is that the vast majority of the stands look for all the world the same as what we see week in week out at regular shoots, in other words totally straightable, yet somehow we keep letting ones and twos slip. I honestly think it's the sense of occasion that gets to most of us?!
I did 82 Red, 83 Black, really got punished on two stands that I will state as more trick shooting and unnecessarily hard. The course in the main as I mentioned already was tough but fair, every stand was either straighted or very nearly so by someone in our squad showing their hittability. Not so for the pair of flat, fast and distant Teal which proved to yield an average of 4 x 10
, not my idea of savvy target presentation, nor was the simmo going aways on the Black course, again fast, flat, edge on and distant. These need a lot of dedicated practice with specialist heavy guns to get anywhere near straight regularly, and so again I don't personally like them, nothing but lazy card wreckers. But still, that left 22 class stands to get your teeth into.
