Life is full of risks it all about mitigating them, and I'm not trying to play down this virus. I've been working since day one of it,no not the nhs frontline, but visiting up to eight houses a day to repair appliances.

And you know what, I feel more at risk doing the weekly shopping than my job.

Understandable hundreds of people are walking around some of those shops and you are exposed to them. One thing about the appliances are the decontaminated by the owners before you work on them? If I arrived at a job and found a mess I would just put the tools back in the bag and leave... unless the appliance was thoroughly cleaned before I started that is.

A lot of places we go, they can't even keep the house clean let alone the appliance.Strange thing though, have been to far few of those since the outbreak. On the whole most people are very good, they don't really want you there but needs must if the appliance has packed in

To be honest, don't shoot loads so I've only missed shooting a bit, but I'm not gonna rush to get out there when it happens like those knobs who have to be front of the queue when the new iPhone Incredible is released, would rather wander round comfortably than shuffle about between stands spending more time standing and waiting.

The proximity I've been to people hospitalised by this and gone sick with confirmed covid19 at work, and I mean eating, sleeping, and all else with them, I reckon I must be asymptomatic, but having seen those suffer, it's gonna be good to get back out there eventually with old shooty but let's do it properly. 😉

I am happy to wait a bit longer to allow any problems with the implemented precautions at grounds to be ironed out. Also with the steady trickle of different professions returning to work, any queuing will hopefully start reducing as well as the mad rush to resume shooting....

Our club reopens on Saturday. Club members only and full social distancing measures implemented face masks and liberal amounts of cleansing gel . Only 3 shooters on a line. I suppose this is one advantage of being a members run club as there are only 30 or so members and it is unlikely everybody will turn out.

Though I hate to say it I personally think that things will not be the same for a very long time.

Well I still won't be out for  a while yet as the self shielding/isolating  rules still apply and the twelve weeks don't come to a close until the middle of June so I will continue to follow them until advised otherwise  :girlhospital: and I will see how the situation is after that before deciding on venturing to enjoy the great sport pastime we have :hunter: ,  also we still have full lock down here in Wales  until the next review  :hmm:

I'm with you on that. I too have worked in the community for the past few weeks and find the 'you can't do this, you can't do that' attitude quite tiresome. The media's been very quick to present the worst and stoke up a sense of panic. Life’s full of risks. We can and should mitigate them as much as we can but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that Coronavirus is little worse than a cold for the vast majority of those that catch it.

I'm not blind to the fact that the virus has cost lives and there's a debate to be had about whether the approach the government's taken is the right one but that's for another day. In the meantime I'd rather think positive and get our shooting grounds open as soon as we safely can.

Yeah, this. My work is labelled 'essential',  so no rest for (and from) the wicked. Haven't had to deal with any situation that had me worried, but for some reason people just act like monkeys in the few stores I visit.

As for the clay-shooting on sunday, it's just members and by reservation only so just a handful of people on the wide open grounds at any time. Handwash for all,  wipes for the buzzers and no clubhouse (shame, but necessary), other than a service window for payments. No reasons to worry. So, wind in my face and gun towards the clays: why isn't it sunday yet?

NRA have announced that Bisley are opening their rifle ranges, along with the Skeet, DTL, OT layouts from Saturday 23rd May.  So things are looking up...is that not where the CPSA are based???

Yes it is, and i dont know how they are getting around the current guidelines 🤔

My rifle club have just emailed me telling me the ranges will open within the next few days with hygiene safeguards in place. A win for common sense I think.

There is new guidance out today. It is now up to the venue to decide if they are happy to open, and can meet the standards.

Timetable for reopening

Sport facilities are now allowed to open.

Each venue, including council-owned sports facilities, will make their own decisions about when their facilities are ready to open and can be operated safely. Please check ahead on websites and social media to make sure before you arrive at a facility that it has reopened and what advice they are offering users, for example if there is a booking system.

The government has also published high level guidance for elite athletes and professional sportsmen and women, in order to allow them resume performance training under new guidance at official training venues.

Government is working with National Governing Bodies of sport to determine what additional and specific guidance may be needed in future

Must admit that a chance to getout to a ground and let rip is very appealing! Not intending to jump the gun but theres about 8 weeks of frustration that needs focussing on some clay!

If they don't open any clay grounds I may have to dust off the ...................................... GOLF CLUBS!
