George Digweed the best shooter in the world

Over enough shoots, almost all the big names will have an off day. If I trawl the scores I can find me ahead of many big names, just once or twice, where my good day has coincided with their off day. However I have no expectation that my good day will ever get ahead of GD's bad day. It is his consistency that makes the difference as he operates in a narrower window of variation than almost anybody else. Or everybody else?

Mr D and i are similar then.

He hardly ever has an off day whereas I hardly ever have an on day.

I'm just a lowly registered shooter B class, when I won the b class at the British open in 2011, George was one of the first people to congratulate me, I was nervous enough as it was, but when he spoke to me I nearly passed out.

It's given me the confidence to say hello when I see him at some of the bigger shoots

At the classic this year I got him to pose with me and a mate for a photo ( he'd finished shooting ) that really made it special for a couple of club shooters like us.

My point is he's not just the best shot we are ever likely to see, he's also a very nice bloke who cares about the sport with a passion and is always having a laugh with people, but when it's his turn to shoot, it's game on and bugger everyone else

Ashley, I was in the same squad and he was lovely. He's completely focused when shooting but still has a laugh going round.

Tinker is a well travelled girl obviously friends with the top people in our sport, and a legend herself me thinks

:fie:  What about Wally Sykes? In the 70's he won just about everything, I'll bet he is next to George on number of titles?

Winning loads of world championships and medals is all very well  but in this era of recycling disposable (and instantly forgettable) z-list celebs your nuffink if you haven't appeared on bog bother or wrinklies go mincing

There is absolutely no denying his talent and accomplishments.  Difficult to imagine anyone being put out by his #1 ranking now or whenever.  And it's cool to know that he's a good person too.

But seriously, big as he is, I hope he has a couple good mates that are heart specialists.

Yes but could you beat George Digweed when he has a bad day and you have a good day ? The answer is the same as me NO

Deershooter
do you really believe that? I can tell you from first hand I've seen George on a bad day I was just about to go in the cage, fair play he was polite excuse me and all that, Threw his card in the bin in the cage I shot, one of the lads in our group got Georges screwed up card out 4 out of 12 stands shot and very much beatable!! off he went and got a fresh card!!

George on a good day thats a different matter!!!
