Good question Matt. Very different experiences between the two, I followed two guys both getting custom guns made to order through the process at Perazzi and Beretta. Perazzi is a smaller company and has a much more personal feel, e.g. meeting and chatting with Mauro and Niko Perazzi, Fabrizio their head stocker. it's a very intimate experience. Beretta is a massive company and the service, while very good, felt more impersonal. Much as you would expect really. In terms of the actual factories, and the guys building the guns, they were very similar. All the staff at both factories looked like proper craftsmen and women, and watching them work was a real pleasure.

I have a lot of photos which I haven't processed yet and will share in time.

I really enjoy your reviews. Your enthusiasm for the shotguns shows through. And it's honest reviews in my opinion (you are not trying to flog any particular brand or the like). And I don't mind your adverts for the people who loan you the weapons, absolutely fair in my view. 

And as a non native English speaker, you have a very easy and understandable language (both prenountiation and also sound quality). And further on the technical aspects you have good lighting, and don't  obscure what you are showing with your hands and arms. 

Very enjoyable and good work indeed.

The trigger not being adjustable was the thing that took the MXS out of the running for me.  I have slightly smaller than average hands and could tell after 5 minutes shouldering it in the shop it was going to be a problem.

No Perazzi has standard adjustable trigger, even if you spend £20k!

Didn't know that.  Wasn't really looking much at other Perazzi's (though was offered a couple), I was choosing between new MXS vs new 692 black vs used DT11 vs used K80.

Indeed they do not, but Perazzi make the 8 and the 12 to measure, the MXS is an off the rack gun. If I were buying an MX I would get one to fit, or if buying secons hand get some wood to fit. That isn't an option on the S and therefore IMO it needs an adjustable trigger.

When I first had my MX12, I was often firing before I meant to because the trigger pulls were so light. I could have cured this by sliding the trigger forward so my fingertip would be in contact, where the finger is more sensitive.

I bought a (fairly lightly) used DT11 last weekend - cost slightly less than the MXS would have new

I shot it exclusively from 2007 to 2015 and it’s lovely. It’s an SC3 from when they were sensible money.  I just find the Blaser a touch easier to use with it’s lighter barrels. I have had my Perazzi stock modified to exactly give me the Blaser fit, but it’s still not quite as effective on clays for me. It’s making my cabinet look pretty these days and I’ll take it out for a game day in November.

Hah, it's funny you say that. I was thinking while at the factory "if I ever had one made I would model the stock on my old F3". I miss that gun sometimes but I just couldn't justify having it in the cabinet when I wasn't shooting it.
