Rough calc says I have spent about 1300 hours at shooting grounds, so some way to go yet then before I give up hope..

I believe it is if you dont achieve greatness after 10k hours of working at it you're never gonna get there
Are you joking where did you get that bollox from?

If you shoot registered sporting regular 5 years max from starting until AA /AAA otherwise face the facts you will just need to set other targets! In Clevers case take up DTL!

Just recalling a post from Nic a few weeks back, I may have got the wrong end of the stick but I'm sure that was the general gist. tried searching for it but no dice. Sure she will enlighten us after the SE AGM, or during if its a tad slow :.:

bingle "ten thousand hour theory" makes interesting reading ;)

Yes Fuzzy. I only give you the interesting thought provoking stuff.

Just out of intrest, how many people on here have shot 100 straight at any trap disaplin?????????????.Don't be shy.
I have but although it was a long time ago!

I like trap because it is, as someone already mentioned, a game of concentration where you can measure your own performance.

If you can hit one target you can potentially hit all of them, the only thing stopping you doing that is you. Sporting is more random, more natural if you like, perhaps, dare I say, more physical skill involved due to the need to adapt to a variety of targets.

I have shot every discipline in the past apart from Helice and as a junior received coaching at the highest level for ISU Skeet (is that still the name), FITASC and OT. I gravitated to the trap disciplines due to the increased support I received and the need to specialise due to lack of funds.

As I've just returned to shooting I had the same decision to make, which discipline? Again due to funds and the odds of success (I am very competitive!) I've chosen Trap again. If I had more money I'd shoot every discipline, every chance I got!

Why Trap? It's a choice the same as anything, if we all chose the same life would be pretty boring! : )

I had my first ever go at DTL on Saturday.

I loved it!

I think the sporting course was more, dare I say it, 'fun'. But I loved DTL for its competition feel (I hope that makes sense).

I managed a 25/70 which I was fairly chuffed with, and can't wait to get back there for another bash and maybe try 100 this time!!

Good man!!!!!!! 25/73 next time .......then 25/75.

why would people be offended?? and why does nicola keep asking for popcorn?

As someone who shoots sporting and trap, trap has its own challenges. I've said it before (somewhere), DTL I can take or leave. If you take an individual target, yes, it's easy. But it's not easy to hit 100 straight with the first barrel.

ABT is tougher still, UT tougher than that and OT is the mother. Why do I shoot trap? Because it's a challenge in its own right and I like that.

Each to his/her own at the end of the day. If you don't like trap, don't shoot it!

Popcorn generally applies to forums where the subject may warrant a lengthy discussion, therefore one has popcorn to kick back and take it all in, much like watching a film at the pictures
