Can’t believe that anyone would release a product that has faults like this, cant see browning letting a gun on the market that only fire one barrel or ford releasing a car with some gears not working. But this is the CPSA so they make their own rules, would like to know what spec they gave to the web developer and how much the cost was but again they would never tell the members that.
The cost?...probably about 10x as much as any sane person would pay for it....they excel at wasting money!

I'm no CPSA apologist - but I think we should probably give them a chance.

Firstly - building a new website isn't easy, I've done a few and its hard to get everything working perfectly first time.

Secondly - connecting a website with a set of databases (scores, classifications, etc) is REALLY hard - with 30,000 ish member records, its very challenging to ensure that every record works perfectly, especially if the old site made the data difficult to manage.

Thirdly - we have no idea what new features they are building in, which might be generating new issues with old data.

Finally - we know nothing about costs, but I guarantee you the market rate for a site like this is not the same as knocking up a thirty-page site for your business.

All of that said - I would have run the new site at new.cpsa.co.uk until I was sure - but it's possible that the old design didn't allow for that.  Many of the problems you are seeing now will almost certainly have been generated by the old site, which was very badly designed behind its 2003 style interface.

Personally, I've built and managed some very complex websites and business change programmes and Clay Shooters are by far the most challenging and ungrateful audience I've ever worked with.  You should see the abuse I've had here for simple issues, on a free site that I manage in my spare time.

Beretta seemed quite happy to release a gun that the ejectors didn't work and the whole thing snapped in half if you opened it a little briskly.

They also managed to release the Mk3 Escort without first fixing about fifty faults on it and who can forget this design gem :

Oi, I loved my Mk3 Escort.  Better than the Mk2 I had that was Modena Green and had a big rust hole in the drivers door:

Mk2 was my first car when I was 17. Learnt to drive in it. Like the car but preferred the looks of th Mk1. Mine was a hideous colour and full of rust.

I was definitely a Ford girl in my younger years. Briefly had a Fiesta XR2 and three different Escorts.

Not at all, I was well aware the image belongs to the vomit worthy Scorpio, if you read the sentence carefully it should be clear enough.

Used to work for a garage chain and use the bosses 2.9 scorpio to go between depots to collect parts, between the staff we had a competition running to see who could get the lowest mpg i won with 3.4....don't think he ever found out

I know that no-one likes change....but i'm really not a fan at first impression.

Where can I easily see my scores for period 54?
Doug are we meant to email problems to them or can I just wait and it’ll be rectified eventually?

Me and Airfix (Steve Bowe, who has a great IT background) have been emailing Peter at CPSA who is very helpful. The current state of the site might even be attributable to all the updates going on. I would wait a little while for it to come right.

Airfix Steve could make a great stage name, like Seasick Steve.

In fairness the web site looks quite good on a desk top pc but isn’t too good on a mobile device. And as mobile devices have outstripped desktops for more than 5 years you would have thought that they would make it mobile friendly first.? Still can’t think why they released it prior to some in depth testing, not as if there was a deadline to meet

Yes, while they are being super helpful to sort it (and add some features asked for), it seems really daft that they didn’t invite a few members to thoroughly test it before launch. Especially as the old site may have been outdated in appearance but actually did almost everything you wanted.
