Oh that is sad  But never mind...one day you might see some of the really good game shots that often wipe up after clay shots.

Again...it is all down to what you have seen in your life time as opposed to someone else's experience in life....true story
Second that Nicola and although I no longer shoot game I do know a few game shots who would wipe your eye on clays without breaking into a sweat and only a foolish man would bet his hard earned money on such a bet but as you say its all down to life's experience... :keeporder:

Whatever you say Nicola, you seem to be the man on here so it must be true. Maybe I need to get out to more game shoots and see these experts in action eh.

I'm not doubting the ability of the Game Shooters - there are some high bird specialists who will love this, BUT I am going to put my money on the fact that the winner of this will be a clay shooter, who will expertly read the birds in the sequence and figure out what each is doing.... my key takeaway from this event is that every target in the sequence is slightly different - from the wider angled targets that were super fast and curling away, to the 'almost' straight but curving edgy birds that came straight over.

The two birds that I CANNOT figure out where I missed were rising from the tower - so diminishing size to the point where they almost look like mini's up there.  I thought I shot like a god to get 12 on my second attempt - but there are many many better driven target shooters than me, so I'm expecting that there will be a few decent scores on that board before long.

Whatever - I'll be going back for another go that actually counts on the board....

I won't hold my breath for all these 'top game shots' to come wipe the floor with the top clay shots at next years FITASC sporting GB team qualifiers...
Think the jist was not that game shots were queuing up to shoot clays but rather some are more then capable of holding their own one of the game shots I mentioned was an ex England team member at English sporting and if anyone doubts how good he is I would be happy to put a wager on...

England team member at sporting...THEN HE IS A CLAY SHOOTER!!!

I think you can argue that there are a few shooters who would fall in both camps... GD, Richard Faulds etc who regularly feature in the top of both lists, either the Clay Shooting rankings, or the top lists of Game shots.

There are loads of clay shooters who shoot game and can 'hold their own' against the top game shots...but as for non clay shooting game shots who could win against the top clay shooters in a clay compitition...I'd bet, none!!!

See you have found the cApS LoCk all you need to do now is add "QUOTATION MARKS" to emphasise it more! only kidding Darkside xD   he shot for England many years ago nearer 30 years then 20 but has always been a game shot. whilst I understand the difference between the two a great shot will always be a great shot whatever you shoot you only have to take Mr Digweed the greatest clay shooter ever to live but also one of the best game shooters ever... true story. :prankster:

Can I just add my post was in reply to lead belly stating "a half decent clay shot" and not the best on the planet!!

I have sat back on this so far and thought im not going to commet or shoot it as when you boys and girls are arguing clays i leave you to it ! But i think saying game shots (and thats what i am and grew up doing from age of 8 never had a clay lesson from anyone but shoot clays and i am in A class) can not compete with clay shots is total bollxxks just like saying clay shots cant compete with game shots we are all shooters and a driven bird is like any other target needs reading and hitting ..clay or feather...

IMO...to win these cars you got to be a good shot a very very good shot....not clay or game shot just a very very good all round shot with knowledge off high driven etc..

Good luck...ps I hope a game shot wins it ;)

Never seen a good game shooter yet that would beat a half decent clay shooter. On clay's that is. I would bet any amount that a recognized clay shot wins this comp.!! Well maybe not any amount.[/quo
I have. And I beat many a good clay shot now and then...ps 119 at gold cup not bad for old game shot...!!!!!!!! ;)

No mate...Im a game shot who shoots clays...I do more game and virmin and pigeons every month than clays....I only registered with cpsa as I could see that I could compete in clays even though im just a keeper/game shot...

Got to laugh at the clay v game shooter arguments, this challenge is all about 2 key things, identifying what the target is and what it is doing AND being able to shoot big gaps. Personally I would say a clay shooter is more likely to be able to identify the target better then the game shooter, both should be able to put big lead on.

The odds say a top end clay shot will take the honours in the end simply because that is what they are used to shooting, remember I said odds are a clay shooter wins....

I really do think this debate over Clay versus Game shots is very silly.

It reminds me of the arguments that I used to have with Sam Wilkinson on the CPSA Coaching Committee meetings where he would forever dismiss BASC Coaching versus CPSA Coaching until I pointed out to him that BASC actually teach their coaches using clays NOT frozen chickens.

If I could mention three Game shots that in their day could have competed with distinction against 'clay' shots, Phillip Fussell, Brian Hebditch , George Digweed all Game shots firstly and clayshooters secondly, all probably well past their best now and not in the same league as Steve Williams or Chris Daniels. I probably taught all of them, but thankfully they have improved since then.
