Hi les53 I was at the committe meeting and there will be no more trap of any kind and no more Dorset i am afraid. There is no more

clubs within a reasonable distance that i can think of that offer such great layouts. The proposed site is all the shooting ground as well.

The area to the right of the hotel is to expand the hotel by 40 rooms apparantly.

Purbeck shooting school is having a terrible time with noise as well and is struggling to put on Dorset FITASC. This is causing problems and

looks like it may have to be shot in the week.

Regards to Brook Bank putting ther prices up once southern is gone is just stupid people vote with there feet and go else where. :fie:   :fie:   :fie:

Trouble is Garry, there would only be one other place within an hour and half each way if I avoid Brookbank! But don't worry; if the charges do become too much and no longer value for money then i will give up and return to off-road motorcycling! Fed up being shafted because I'm a shooter!

Pardon me for being a bit thick but why is ot so hard ti put on? Is it the layout or amount of equipment?

The whole set up is very expensive, big concrete hole in the ground 15 traps + acoustics etc, I feel so sorry for you guys down there , it was great for me as well , travel down with the wife to stay with the in laws in christchurch then escape to the range to shoot the best (next to Beverly) OT range in the country, sorted.

Sorry watchman...I posted at the same time.

I think that the nearest ground to you with O.T. is Doveridge. Might be worth going over there to have a look you'll be able to see for yourself what's involved.

Surely if one ground is going to close it would open up opportunities to open another think of the traps that would be for sale and other equipment

Yes.. This has 'opportunity' written all over it to me (no idea about local planning issues etc). It's a lovely area with rolling hills, lots of farmland, not too many houses. Seems like a good sporting set up would be easy to achieve. I realise that replacing the full on trap facilities would involve a lot more start up cash.

I would imagine that getting a new site with planning would be very difficult in the area as the south west tends to be full of people who have either retired to the area or have holiday homes and don't appreciate "Country Pursuits" or "Rural Life" with legal battles being fought over cocks crowing for God's sake.

If you don't like it just don't come here, you don't have the right to change it IMHO!  Like that person who moved next to Thruxton race circuit and tried to shut it down because of the noise!

Oh, it wouldn't be a moments work to find a spot. And I wouldn't suggest Yeovil or Dorchester town centres.. but somewhere within a 20m radius must have somewhere (That's 4000 sq miles). It isn't populated that heavily? I may be wrong; haven't researched it of course. It just seems a likely part of the world compared to Surrey or Sussex by comparison?

The irony is of course that Southern Counties is not closing due to noise issues, proving that the area can host a shooting ground..

Know what you mean Robert. We had one down here who expected the farmer next door to stop combining when he got home from work as he didn't like the noise and dust.

Idyllic countryside? Might be some peoples perception, the reality for farmers is that it's a tough working environment. If it's so idyllic why does farming have one of the highest suicide rates in the country?

......I am not cut out for discussing a serious topic in this way....I keep thinking......

Good access to shotguns? :suicide:

With the current recession hitting the High Street and shops closing down, I am looking for investors to open a state of the art OT shooting ground here in Shropshire. The site will be indoors at Telford Shopping Centre. I even have a name for the ground

 Ace Hole sh*tting Centre.

Oh my goodness my signwriter made a fraudian slip! ! !
