Back to (a windy) Honesberie today for another 100 with coaching from Chris Biddlecombe.

Definitely a confidence building day, putting into practice lots of small details to help build greater consistency.

Still a very long way to go and much to work on but I’m told and I feel the foundations are there now.

Sporting Targets on Sunday... can’t wait!

Tried? Will admit to a recent "scratch the itch" by taking out a Parcours, it did shoot rather well, German engineering against Italian beauty, resisted so still have my flighty Italian mistress.

 
Collected some of the pegs from the drives on our syndicate shoot in North Yorkshire .Was going to call at the local clay ground but it was blowing a gale so I stayed on for a roost shoot . Pulled off three cracking shots with my 20 gauge . It made me realise once again that you can only simulate up to a point  with a clay pigeon .

Sporting Targets today. Blustery. Not that it seemed to bother the clays that much, but was blowing my barrels around and at times, blowing me around too! (Not a euphemism)

An hour spent trying consolidate everything I’ve learned and do a bit of fine tuning.

Very encouraged by comments I’ve been getting recently on my progress from different instructors, but still trying to translate those good bits into a consistent routine and flow.  

When it comes together I have some very convincing kills, good swing and transitions. When it doesn’t, it’s pretty mediocre. 

My search for consistency continues...

 
Shot at Sycamore, first to shoot as everyone else hiding in the cabin.

So windy I had trouble standing and the clays where all over just like my barrels. 

Had to call it a day as I couldn't feel my fingers.




 
Went to Stockport to pick up a Brattonsound RD7+ cabinet in readiness for my sgc inspection.

stood in the cold and very strong winds trying to hit clays that either bounced everywhere or sometimes ended up going backwards 

perversely it was frustratingly good fun, still managed to hit 80%.  There were some very annoying misses when you pulled the trigger and a gust blew the clay in a random direction . No time to track the clays -  see it and hit it 🤔

 
Went to Oakedge for their first registered 100 bird shoot, put on by Steve Lovatt. Weather got better as the day went on. The targets were great, nothing was a given and everything was hittable. We all thoroughly enjoyed it, and will be returning! 
It was my first every shoot, shooting gun down, and I slowly got the hang of it. 
Not a massive score(62) but great experience, and I will continue to practice at it. 

 
Went out Sat to the local club where I have a membership that provides better prices.  Not many people out tho it was a lovely day - cloudless, very light breeze and near 70degF.  T-shirt and vest weather.  Couple folks I shoot with now and then were there as well and we spent a pleasant afternoon BS'ing and blastinating some targets.  I had to pass on Sun as there were two football games that needed watching.

 
Had a couple hours with RF yesterday at Owls working through a few things. 

When to apply certain hand speeds is really starting to come together now and allowing much greater consistency in some of the more extreme targets and also pairs where there is different speed and/or distance at play. Something that has definitely taken some time to click since starting shooting. 

Ultra specific hold points and attacking some of the (historically bogey) trap-type targets with confidence is also working well. 

Back again 19/03 for a further check in.

The NFL kind is stupid and boring but that's JMO of course.   What else would you call a 60minute game that requires three hours to broadcast?  I haven't seen one in maybe 30+ years

 
After a decent performance at Owls Lodge yesterday (started badly then did nicely); I gave AGL the benefit of the doubt. Drove there, had a cup of tea but 4 degrees and sideways rain sent me home without shooting...

My decision to cancel the days leave and go to work sounds like the correct one.  I'm so sick of this weather.

AGL was right on the northern edge of a big rain cloud apparently. There is a chance it may have improved, but drove home in blinding spray
