So Saturday saw my first Saturday joining my Walk one stand one saturday Sydicate.

Based on the Grimsthorpe Estate at Norwood Farm. Just through Corby Glen.

Meet point was the Diner off the A1 at Colsterworth.

Suitably fed and tea'd we set off to meet at the shoot.

Good crowd of guns and team of beaters.

All the Guns had dogs, a mix of Spaniels and Labs.

I was standing the first drive.

Raining steadily I saw nothing worth shooting at.

Lovely deer as I took to the peg though.

Next I was beating for the fellow guns. Hard work through fairly high bramble but the guns saw a good number of shootable birds.

The line was maybe ten or eleven with a mix of dogs. Terriers, Labs and Spaniels working well together to flush the wood.

We were mainly standing the rides and tracks through the woods. Snap shooting the order of the day.

For a small shoot it's well organised with a fair but harsh shoot captain barking through the woods at the beating line making sure we worked hard for the guns.

Lunch was a pack up and the tips a tenner really making this type of Game shooting very affordable.

The bag was 51 of which I added only 4 (4/8)

All birds were taken by the shoot for eating.

Me with my Nephew on return.

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I know one of the guns in it, a chap called Ron. I beat with him on another Grimsthorpe shoot on a Thurday. From what he says it's been going for many a long year and a very friendly shoot.

I would say you've found yourself a great little walk and stand!

It's surrounded by bigger shoots which can't be bad!

I shall look him up.

I'm appalling with names and I must be honest I don't remember a Ron but maybe he wasn't shooting on Saturday.

It really seems to be a great little syndicate.

Another Saturday over on the Grimsthorpe estate.

Norwood Farm hosted Seven guns alternating between walking and standing

Pulled Peg seven standing the first drive.

In a field left of of the wood being worked by the fellow team and beaters.

Good peg really

Plenty out low though then four on the bounce at shootable height.

Lovely far fast crosser hen bird single barrelled.

Four from the drive.

I'm getting into the beating side of the syndicate now.

I really want a dog, to watch the lads working their dogs flushing the birds for the standing guns is great to watch.

The dogs just love it.

We worked well for our fellow guns flushing well.

I shot poorly to be honest on the rest of the my pegs. Hitting nothing else for ten or so more shots

It was dry warm and only the slightest breeze.

The bag was 55 pheasants and 2 woodcock.

I really enjoy this shoot and its a bargain for Game shooting highly recommended as an intro to Game shooting without smashing the finances.

Ron introduced himself to me today so thank you.

doesn't matter about the 10 for 0, it's always the ONE good bird that is remembered :)

I'm a member of two shoots (although with exactly the same members). Our average bag is 25-30 birds per day, but I get far more enjoyment from the day than I did on other bigger shoots I attended.

Good company, watching the dogs work and enough for a brace each at the end of the day is all I need.

I remember a cock bird flying over me about 5 or 6 yrs ago that went on to give everyone in the line full use of their gun's and disapeared into the distance untouched. Still makes me smile thinking about it :)
