Well found out this afternoon that my position is being considered for redundancy, mainly due to recent contact losses and ones that are also near the end of their contract period.

The directors are reveiwing the departmental structure, we have a head of department, me as the servie manager and an assistant service manager, however I'm the only one that has and will receive a letter outlining the risk of redundancy, so I don't hold out much hope there. I will find out on Monday morning.

So I think my shooting days might well be numbered, they have been much reduced since 2009 when I got made redundant at the start of the recession. :fie: :fie:

Not good news Andy - best wishes to you and Hazel. Hope you sort something out quickly and get back behind the trigger.

Really bad luck Andy.

I have fingers crossed for Monday xx

Another good person gets slammed thanks to the greedy mf'ers that run the world.

sorry to hear, Andy.

Besta luck

Andy,

When one door closes, another will be there to open.

Be positive and resist any offers to star in 'Benefit Street'.

A Plant Engineer ought to be in demand, or have your hands softened due to microsoftitis?

Get something else lined up quick, sit on your hands until you get the redundancy package, move to the new job and use the severance pay to go shooting + maybe a handbag & a pair of Jimmy Chues

Good luck and fingers crossed for you, I'm in a similar position, contract runs out at the end of march just hoping to be transferred over with the new contract winners.

chicken curry no worry

Sounds like the pool should be three and not one - have they wrongly made their minds up in advance?  You could get a free hour with a specialist employment lawyer that might be worthwhile!

Rotten business - good luck to you

You're not the only one Andy, 21 of us in the firing line at our place all to be gone by the end of March.

Good luck.

Looking on the positive side I think as an experienced service manager you will soon get an offer. Not sure who you work for but going off your sig I have a good idea who it could be. Get your CV out to the top half dozen or so facilities management companys, but you don't need me to tell you that.

Good luck mate.

Sending you a PM

Thats a bummer :(

I hope something comes up quickly.

As an aside,  why only you given the redundancy?  they need to prove that your "role"  is redundant.

How long have you worked there,   given your notice period is so short,  they may be outside the statutary requirements.

What is your notice period?   if the notification of redundancy is less than your notice period, they you are entitled to be paid in leu ..

Last time it happened to me i was given 3 days notice,  they had to pay me 3 months salary in leu of notice.

Effectivley,  now you have been given notice, you are entitled to time off to look for work.

Get you cv off tommorow to all the agencies.

look on the positive,   theres a nice weeks break in Dubai at the month end ;)

Mart,

I will find out on Monday if they are making me redundant or not. The two directors and the my departmental head are having a conference call on Saturday mornng to discuss the situation, the MD now lives in Spain and is only over for 5 days a month, to sort out payments etc. alongside his other two companies business, so we only see him for around 2-3 days a month.

I have worked there 3 years now. My notice period is one month.

My CV is already out there.

Payment for lieu of notice.   - 1 month

Payment for any outstanding holidays accrued but not taken

Payment for any overtime  / workingtime outstanding

& P45

Make sure you take the oppertunity tommorow to clear your desk / PC of any stuff that may be usefull ;)

Best of luck. I have been made redundant 4 times.  Each time I have changed career and in the end better for it.  As said above Positive Mental Attitude will always win out.

Sorry to hear that Andy. I hope that things work out in your favour.. but remember every cloud etc. I know it is easily said but sometimes it can open your mind to things you never actually considered before as a way to making your way through life... anyway best of luck what ever the outcome.

And I do not mean robbing banks :)
