If the scores range from 60 up to 95, and somebody wins £60 by shooting 78, how can you  say that is not rewarding mediocrity.

Yeah, your probably right that is the wrong analogy, What I mean is to get better you must strive to win, not come 17th or 20th.

I am glad the likes of Mark Winser, and all the great young shots we have coming on haven't read that book, as perhaps they wouldn't bother.

If you read through a lot of posts on here the general consensus is that the class system doesn't work and is not a true reflection of peoples shooting ability, that being the case why would anybody feel any pride or achievement in winning in a system that is flawed, or more importantly...

True, the top 15 or 20 could get a payout according to entry.

If you ask shooters if they enter to win money, I bet over 90% would say they enter just for the fun of it, so why do you think doing away with classes would decrease the entries. Lets do away with classes start off scratch, and reward people who actually win, not people who shoot a mediocre...

Will, if you did not allow the tough shoots to be registered, then you would have to do the same for the softer shoots. Sorry ignore my post, just read through the whole thread and seen Ed has already said the same.

Never mind, you have got to have bad days to have good ones, it's just getting the good ones to outweigh the bad ones.
