The flag is not  down to inexperience it is a clear indication of responsibility towards other shooters and a respect of their concerns relating to the safety of the gun, it is also a very good habit to show younger less experienced shooters what they should be doing should they acquire a semi auto
+1

And just how are the rest of us supposed to know if you are experienced or some clueless numpty who has just turned up straight from the gun shop and who has never heard of flags let alone safety!

There is always someone who has to fly in the face of accepted and laid down practice - I hope I don't come across you on the range as you and your attitude are an accident waiting to happen!

Rant over! :scared:
+1 (whilst running)

:laugh:

What they SHOULD do if they acquire a semi auto is ;

1) Sell it and buy a proper clay shooting gun

or

2) Use it for shooting pigeons and rooks

Sorry but I just don't like the things and I can see no reason to use one for clay shooting at all.

thats because you have never had to use one, it is amazing how sure and self righteous people can become about such things, you have no idea or indeed recognition of peoples physical needs or infirmities or the lengths they have gone to enable them to keep shooting. A typical  comprehensive dinosaural attitude.

I used to regularly shoot an O/U but arthritis in both shoulders put paid to shooting with it and YES i tried all alternatives it was my doctor who advised me to get  gas semi auto as they bleed off most of the reoil. It is very easy to condemn things out of hand when you are speaking from a position of ignorance

I am very sorry to hear about your arthritis.There are now guns out there with so little recoil that an auto is pretty much unnecessary, coupled with recoil reducing devices and good soft shells they make a good combination. I did not condemn anything "out of hand" and the post itself is not related to those who are disabled in any way, as you will see if you read the whole of the thread. It is a general thread about semi autos and whether people like them or not, I and many others don't like them, there are people on this forum that use and like them for their own reasons, you are one of those people, but please do not try to tell other people that their opinons are ignorant or wrong just because they differ from your own! Have fun with your auto! :wink:

Your opinion is based on sweeping assumptions you make purely from your own little world and once again you did not read the post fully. I HAVE tried other alternatives and I can assure you it is noit just a question of recoil, although your assertions that dampeners and cartridges can achieve the same level of low recoil is patently nonsense, again based on an armchair  opinion which has not involved hours of testing recoil pads 21gram 24 gram cartridges only to find that they dont really work  If you had a tad of insight into the physicalities required to regularly lift move and shoot a gun in certain circumstances you would  not be so quick to condemn such devices which suit some shooters and enable them to keep on shooting. You are ignorant and ill informed to boot

It is such a shame about your disability, and I really do mean that. So you have tried ALL the recoil reducing devices and ALL the soft shells on the market, with all the different types of barrel bores? If so, well that is an achievement, well done! My "armchair opinion" has indeed involved many hours of testing thousands of shells and numerous guns over the years. I have shot with many disabled shooters over a thirty year period and most have found that OU guns with the right shell and recoil reducer combination works wonders, gun weight and boring also have an effect of course. I may well be ignorant and also ill informed, but unlike your good self, I will not try to shut someone up merely because their opinion differs from my own! I wish you well, happy shooting! :smile:
