Another Shooting Ground threatened by Noise Complaints

Something does need to be done about grounds being threatened with closure due to noise pollution .

We have numerous shooting associations you in the past have just sat back and never vigorously defended our sport.

It is about time we united and fought these actions.

We have a ground that was closed here in Newport many years ago on noise complaints from one local resident (who used to be a partner in the shooting ground and then fell out with his partner). That ground is now a Sand Quarry and we have Loaders and Graders + Heavy Vehicles making considerable noise 7 days a week.

Meanwhile back to reality, I was involved in the a case of a ground closure up here in S Yorks. It had to close, and it did. The biggest problem we encountered was the Council noise chappie, who informed us that if the ground was down a bloody great big hole thus eliminating the spread of noise, he would still close it down. The main thing here is he had unlimited funds, while the ground owner had to foot his own costs. The guy who was sent to hear the case (was he an ombudsman?) was sympathetic to our cause, but he still advised a closure.
