Shouldn't there be a glut of cartridges?

Same for fuel prices, the bastards reduced it to just over a quid and now they’re squeezing us dry by a massive price rise. Shells are the exact same.

    Closing the gun

I almost never use a slip when shooting a round, it would have to be pouring something chronic, a bit of rain never hurt a proper gun. That way everyone can see it is broken except when in the stand. As for the pompous ceremony of breaking it while withdrawing it from the slip, give me a break...

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Never understood how anyone can shoot and stand alongside people shooting a 12 gauge !!

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Very true, but these guys shoot high volume in practice which makes all the difference.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Sounds like they ran the entire shoot on clay pick ups.

    Interesting

More lead more dead, it’s not a difficult concept to grasp.

    Barrel length for a shorty

People love to describe the FACT all the top shots use 32” (mainly) as a trend, the truth is this “trend” started in the early 80’s with zero sign of abating. My thought process is always based on provable truth.

    Barrel length for a shorty

32” preferably - and not less than 30”

    Can you see the shot?

Who is to say that having to stare the target to death isn’t just an old wives tale ? I for one don’t believe you necessarily miss a target if you take your eyes off it ! There are world class shots who reckon they pick a spot in front of a clay, calculate the lead by taking their eyes off the...

    Can you see the shot?

I’ve “always” been able to see the shot (cloud) although certain weather patterns are more conducive to clarity. You need to be able to stand in the correct place behind the shooter so it’s not always possible unless the shooter is cooperative.  Seeing ones own shot cloud is harder but can be...

    EJ Churchill Swinton Estate

Mid week reg shoots rely on clientele who are either retired on good pensions, business owners, self employed tradesmen or those who work in retail on Saturday and Sundays thus able to take days off during the week but agree there is definitely an entry fee beyond which even those people will...

    Reloading shotshells

The rationale is that the unscrupulous would use 32g loads in order to gain an unfair advantage.

Everyone has bad days, you’ll come out of it as long as you learn from the mistakes.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

I’ve long said there are one or three stands at EJC which handicap the shorter shooters. The grouse butt can be a real pain if you have to contend with anything thrown low, the stand with the steps and the metal bin shoved in directly in front means having tho lift the gun into an unnatural...

    Caesar Guerini steel quality

I doubt you could put a cigarette paper between the quality or material strength of any of the top dozen makes of guns never mind those mentioned.  Incidentally the CG steel is said to be good enough for a million rounds on at least one of their models !

    Reloading shotshells

If I’m not mistaken you can’t use reloads in registered competitions.

    Beretta Shotgun Ejector Removal Tool

I know, as it happens I fell in love with a mates brand new left handed Perazzi he had custom built to his measurements, (which he incidentally sold on fairly rapidly as he couldn’t gel with it) - obviously lots of things were wrong with the fit such as length and cast but the barrels were light...

    Beretta Shotgun Ejector Removal Tool

I know for sure the Miroku 6000 G3 which I bought online unseen brand new had the fore end metal parts permanently attached to the wood which meant sharp edges were unavoidable. Nice gun which “fitted” me like a glove and swung like a thing meant to swung as Blackadder would say but was useless...

    Beretta Shotgun Ejector Removal Tool

There were a couple of reasons why early on I decided against Miroku as my go to gun, they couldn’t be relied on where barrel rust was concerned, the action was a tad too deep, the metal/wood edges were generally too sharp and I’ve even cut myself once or twice.
