I almost never use a slip when shooting a round, it would have to be pouring something chronic, a bit of rain never hurt a proper gun. That way everyone can see it is broken except when in the stand. As for the pompous ceremony of breaking it while withdrawing it from the slip, give me a break...

Very true, but these guys shoot high volume in practice which makes all the difference.

I doubt you could put a cigarette paper between the quality or material strength of any of the top dozen makes of guns never mind those mentioned.  Incidentally the CG steel is said to be good enough for a million rounds on at least one of their models !

I know for sure the Miroku 6000 G3 which I bought online unseen brand new had the fore end metal parts permanently attached to the wood which meant sharp edges were unavoidable. Nice gun which “fitted” me like a glove and swung like a thing meant to swung as Blackadder would say but was useless...

There were a couple of reasons why early on I decided against Miroku as my go to gun, they couldn’t be relied on where barrel rust was concerned, the action was a tad too deep, the metal/wood edges were generally too sharp and I’ve even cut myself once or twice.
