Hi Howard The wife and I are planning a weekend away in Brighton and we both shoot Clays - where would you recommend we go for our nearest "pay and play" style ground? Failing that which traditional style Sunday shoots? Regards, James

Quality used guns- recommendations in the South West?

Well Charles, I can vouch for Sportarm & Avalon - the wife bought second hand from Sportarm and we tend to get our cartridges from there too, and I bought new from Avalon (one of those more modern Beretta you dislike (692) - I visited all the local Beretta stockiest for one with decent wood...

    692 vs mk38 grade 5

Well you opened a can of worms with your question 692 v MK38 Grd 5! I bought a 692 a year ago and for the record cant fault it, and even had my local gunsmith strip it and give it the once over and all is fine - I did get him to refinish the stock as the factory finish is a little...

    Lains Shooting School - Thoughts?

Used to visit Lains regularly and spent a lot of time there many years ago  Have had lessons there and was very pleased. Due to where I live now Purbeck is my practice venue of choice, but always enjoyed visiting Lains.

Tips to figure out why you cant hit a certain target!!??

Cheers for all the replies and advice! Purbeck is my local and have had some time with Graham Brown (albeit back in Feb).  I do quite well at Purbeck, but yesterday we tried The Spitfire Shoot, and yes I have been through a lot of change since Feb with my shooting and am having a course of...

Eye Dominance - mine seems to change very regularly?

Well, I have just had an eye test with a Sports Optometrist (Underwood Eye Care in Ferndown).......in short, I was diagnosed as right eye dominant!  After numerous tests the issues are between my left hand and right eye (I am right handed so my left hand leads the barrels).  My left hand is...

    Pigeon Shooting Opportunities in Dorset

Hello All, Despite predominately being a clay shooter I am starting to do more and more pigeon shooting, and enjoying helping a local organic small holding keep the pigeons at bay.  I am wondering if there are any other venues\farmers in Dorset who also allow access to their estate for similar...

    Cracking Typo.....

Well my 15min of fame has started.....and started with a humorous typo...see page 86 of July 2015 edition of Clay Shooting magazine (or the attached image)..... It is safe to say I haven't been shooting for 28 years with my eyes closed! Have to say Steve Rawsthorne at Holland & Holland has...

    Caesar Guerini vs Beretta

It certainly is a pretty gun Meerkat....the Ascent Sporter has a higher rib, which is also tapered (not sure if the normal Summit has that) and also has the Monte Carlo stock.....making it a very well focused clay busting machine....with the Ascent and 692 you are starting to break in to entry...
