That’s very positive to hear I do remember reading your thread actually, I didn’t want to hijack it with my own query’s so thought I would start my own. Good to hear from people with positive reviews of a company though important to share the good as well as the bad

Your fears about the wall thickness are unfounded . It’s a proven system , and the conversion. going to leave your gun balancing thereabouts the same ( plus the extended bits that you may or may not stick on the end ) . You won’t damage them unless you abuse them . As they use a tapered choke key it’s even difficult to over tighten them .

The constrictions of the choke are matched to your particular barrel set measured diameter , and the chokes etched with the gun serial number . If you want more chokes you just ring and quote your number and new ones matched to your barrels are delivered in days .

To be honest I’m not a changer either. I had a ceasuir prior to the K80 and although it was multi choked I maybe changed them 3 times in 3 years. I do however really like the look of extended chokes. And at the price point plus the benefits I’m feeling like getting it done. Many thanks for your information though 👍🏼
 
If you leave it as is you def won’t be on here in 18 months asking how to get a stuck choke out.
I would imagine there are lots of shooters who have multi choked guns but never change them.
 
I can only echo the praise for Teague's work. I had thin wall chokes and steel proofing done a couple of years ago, I think the turnaround time was 3 weeks. Do you use your barrel selector for different birds on a stand, if not you could get Teague to make the top barrel improved cylinder like the bottom one and get it steel proofed at the same time.

You already know what chokes the gun has - your words "I believe on the barrels it is marked IM bottom F top." (3/4 and Full)
The markings won't lie, if the chokes had been altered you would see new markings on the barrels.

Right I wasn’t aware that it would have been re marked if this was the case. Every day is a school day as they say.
 
I bought my K80 second hand - it was originally fix-choked and multichoked later (before I bought it), later I ordered Teague bespoke thinwall extended chokes in 2x3/8 +1x 5/8 constriction.
Those are best made (once you hold them you get to appreciate the marksmanship) - thin like paper, dont add anything to the weight of the barrel...

...anyway - at first I have put 3/8 (0.015) in the bottom and 5/8 (0.025) above. But last year in August I attended a Fitasc Sporting competition at Steyr Arms with some incredible far targets (70m+). Tempo of competition was rather fast and toward the end I got somehow tired and since I wasn't there to win anything I didn't bother to switch from 3/8 in both barrels - worked like a charm, never looked back since. Now I only put 5/8 when shooting trap for 2nd barrel, otherwise 3/8 are there to be. I do shoot top 5% antimony ammo all the time tho...

If I would be starting all over again (I don't shoot much trap lately) I would choose fixed choke - in the range 0.012-0.018 (tight 1/4 - loose 1/2) with high quality shot, maybe 0.020 (1/2) that would cover softer shot as well.

You’ll actually find that thousands of guns have had their fixed chokes eased without ever seeing the proof house, there’s never been a law or requirement to do so .

Any gun shop worth its salt will mic the barrels and chokes for you . You really need a proper bore micrometer to get the real figures . Indeed it’s the first thing Teague Precision will do as there has to be enough material to be machined . as for a K80 as a starting point you’ll struggle to find better barrels , they are beautifully made .
 
Choke was always a measurement taken as tighter than the actual bore of the gun. Measured in thousands of an inch or roughly .25 of a millimeter per quarter choke. So every ten though is an extra 1/4 choke five thou the in between chokes Skeet 3/8” so on. Bit annoying when in today’s world 40thou is extra full and full would have been 7/8” a few years ago. That’s using measurements if by pattern percentage in s circle cart choice can make a decent difference. So pattern your gun as it is with a choice of carts to see what it’s actually putting out regardless of what it measures at the choke. Fixed choke is less hassle and normally better balanced.
 
Teague multi choked a MX2000S for me, thin wall, have also had them remove a stuck choke (operator neglect) and then make chokes for my MK38 Trap which is Briley cut, this by the original owner, the service at all times was first class, I know of a great may others that use the company, none has had a bad / poor word, in a sport where we are not shy on pointing out / rabbiting on about poor service that's impressive.

Just my own experience(s) of course.
 
All of my shotguns have changeable chokes. I had one pump gun that had a barrel with a fixed choke and I purchased a new barrel with removable chokes. If I buy a shotgun without the full complement of SK, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, F I’ll buy the missing choke to fill in the gaps. The primary reason is that my son and myself shoot different clay disciplines and hunt, and switch between lead and steel shot which requires different choke constrictions.
 
I do prefer extended chokes mainly for the barrel protection, it’s also easier to tighten. I tried some ported chokes, needless to say after shooting one round of sporting the filth all over the barrel end and front bead made the decisions to sell them easier.

Going to pattern this weekend I think then shoot it for a little longer before I decide.
