    Anthony Matarese interviews George Digweed

Hope the link works. If not, search Christopher Claxton on youtube. A fascinating insight in to the life of a legend. Not the usual 10mins of fluff. A great watch. PM.

    CPSA smiles on the north!

The English open sporting 2024 being held at Doveridge and the British sporting and sportrap back at Swinton again! Woo-hoo! Does anyone know when entries open? I think entries for the British opened 1st May last time. PM.

    Essex Masters 2023

No mention of the above on here yet. Has anyone been? I've always wanted to go down for it but it seemed to attract some negative views last year. From the outside looking in it seems to have a bit of an 80's feel to it! Perhaps the cpsa have spoilt me, but seeing a simple list of scores in...

    Fujairah mountain shooting championship

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. What are people's thoughts on FMSC? Anyone out there? To be honest, the terrain does nothing for me. I'd definitely more a fields and trees type of man. I haven't looked in to it but I imagine there's big money involved? Does anyone know why Nad Al...

    Another old chestnut!

I see the cpsa are raising the prospect of a name change again. How do we all feel about this? I'm fairly indifferent to it but the reasons seem flimsy. Will changing the word to target from pigeon really open up a whole new intake of members and propel clay shooting in to the mainstream? PM.

    Mk38 barrel weight?

Could anyone tell me the weight of 30" Mk38 teagued sporter barrels? I'm looking for a higher grade replacement for a sporter one and think a grade 5 mk38 may be ideal. Many thanks in advance. PM.

    The "new" Power Blue

Has anyone tried the new version of Lyalvale's Power Blue? Is it purely cosmetic? I rated them when they were first introduced but they seemed to go up in recoil over time. It would be nice if they'd made them smoother again. PM.

    Quick Sportrap question

Evening All, Post lockdown I'm planning on trying Sportrap again after a break of many years. I'm familar with the concept but one thing I can't find a definite answer on. Report pairs. On the menu board are they written in the order in which they can/should be shot? Is there a rule or...

    EJ Churchill Swinton Estate

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our day at Swinton, North Yorkshire this week. Formerly Warren Gill shooting ground but now under the management of EJ Churchill. They've clearly invested heavily in their first expansion north with 15 stands currently on offer and a new club house. Few no...

    Kevin Gill

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet but it seems official that Kevin Gill sadly passed away on monday night aged 58. I didn't know him personally but he seemed like a good guy and a real champion for our cause/sport. My sincere condolences to his family and friends at this allready...

    Perazzi Pro Sport

Merry Christmas to you all. After 10yrs with the same MX12 it's time to add to the collection again! Having had MX8's and 12's in sporters and game guns I'm well aware of the differences in design. One model that's passed me by is the MX12 Pro Sport. Can anyone tell me the differences between...

    The Brexit effect?

With the Brexit deadline nearing I'm fully expecting our beloved cartridge manufacturers to increase their prices. Regardless of a hard/soft/no deal outcome. It's too good an opportunity to miss! Has anyone been stockpiling cartridges in advance? I'm sure the british manufacturers will have...

    The dreaded goth wedding effect!

After many years of shooting fibre loads and listening to other people's opinions there seemed to be no consistency on the confetti issue. One make are fine for one gun but confetti in others.  I rarely suffer from it and allways put that down to my tightly bored Perazzi but I've made a...

    Sponsorship

I'm curious what you all think of sponsorship regarding guns and cartridges and your purchase decisions? I've shot for over 30 years and feel confident enough to see through hype etc and honestly feel what others use has very little influence on me. On the contrary. I'd have said sponsored...

    World Sporting EJ Churchill

Many moons ago I shot registered english sporting fairly regularly and reached AA before other priorities took over.  I now consider myself a gameshooter foremost and a "tweedy" clay shooter second! I still enjoy clays with friends but reg no longer appeals although the World Sporting has...

    Cheddite users.

They've gone up! £8 to £12 a thousand depending on type. I thought with the current cheaper deals on Superfast,Velocity etc we might have seen the back of price rises for the time being. Sadly not. Still quality shells though. PM.

    Help from 725 owners

I have a fancy for a Gd5 725 Sporter. The plan is to buy a cheaper second hand Gd1 and put it through its paces first. before taking the plunge. The Gd1 would then be kept as a rough gun and the Gd5 for best! My question is,are the differences between the old Gd1 and the new Gd1 purely cosmetic...

    Cartridge companies

Its fairly obvious like most other things in life that the higher you go up the product range, the more profit margin is applied. This certainly accounts for the difference between game and clay loads. The cartridge companies put a lot of money into sponsorship and advertising to encourage us to...

    Gun/Cartridge regulation.

I've allways been curious how the old gun makers regulated a shotgun to a specific cartridge? It sounds in theory an advantageous thing to do but it baffles me how it was carried out in practise? Can anyone enlighten me? Is it still carried out today and has anyone had it done? I may have over...
