    Tri guns

I just finished a conversation with someone struggling at getting the sight picture back after lots of changes and I mentioned tri guns (is that the spelling?) I know Julian at AGL has one as that was where I had my gun fitted for the final time. Bruce Marks, BASC coach in Peterborough has a sxs...

New pay and play sporting at Six Mile Bottom, Suffolk

Six Mile Bottom, home of the fabulous simulated game days, have just installed a pay and play range. Currently it's bookable for squads of up to six. There are ten stands ranging from easy to tricky.  From the Facebook page of Six Mile Bottom Shoot: New Sporting Layout of 10 different...

    East of England FITASC grounds

Basic question that Google is not helping with: where are the FITASC grounds in the East of England? I know Barrow Heath used to have competitions. Anywhere else in Beds, Herts, Cambs, Suffolk, Norfolk or Essex? I have seen hoops on floors at grounds but not an actually place where you can shoot...

    Coaching in the stand

I've had enough of this.  Random man starts "coaching" me on my first ever registered. Referee starts "coaching" me when I went to shoot his stand at my County championship. Then he started on the B class lady who was next! Possibly because one of our squad (all ladies) had confided it was her...

    Public apology

In the recently deleted "Anybody know how Tinker bell is doing?" thread I posted that if Tinkerbell had wanted to be effective in making changes at the CPSA she would not have stood against Michele Conway as a National Director but would have instead opposed a yes-man regional director last...

Sports vision at the CPSA awards

CPSA awards close tomorrow. If you have had any help from Ed Lyons please nominate him for a Special Contribution award this year. Custom lenses people and people with prescription glasses particularly encouraged to do so. Ed's CPSA number is 127177. The form is at...

    Vision Express for sports vision

Consider this a public service announcement: Vision Express are likely to be sh*t and not know anything about shooting. My last eye test was three years ago. My last optometrist was sports vision specialist Ed Lyons. I can no longer swan off to Wolverhampton for a few hours so I needed...

    CPSA awards

It's the CPSA awards time. If you are a CPSA member I would like to ask you to nominate Cheryl Hall for the Development Award. Cheryl arranged with the organisers of both the British and the English Opens to mentor squads around the course. Cheryl promoted, persuaded and recruited until she more...

    British Shooting Talent Pathway

I have just received an email.offering me a place on the British Shooting Talent Pathway to shoot OT. I am very chuffed. I am not sure what will happen next but isn't it nice to be asked?

Side by side championship at AGL this Friday

Anyone shooting this on Friday? High on my success at the British Open I will be there, trying to remember how to shoot the sxs. I'm hoping to shoot round with some friends if timings work, but it would be nice to know who to look out for.

    Referees are people too

I shot my first A/R today. Started off okay but on the ABT the ref/buttoner called one of my second barrel kills as a loss. I objected, and the squad backed me up and he said sorry, didn't see that. Next peg same thing again, but this time the guy on my right told the ref that maybe he should...

    Martin Barker

This is up on Nuthampstead's Facebook page. It is with the most deepest regret and great sadness that we have to inform you that Martin John Barker passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning. After a short battle with cancer he passed in comfort and peace. He was a brilliant husband...

Sportrap - can it be taught?

I've been taught to shoot the disciplines (skeet, DTL, ABT) and seem to learn reasonably well. I've had ESP coaching and have made lots of progress through that (I'm just lacking experience and the time to gain it). Can Sporttrap be taught or coached? Because I have a competition and if it can...

    Gun cleaner

I started off using Napier gun cleaner, but even though I was very thorough in cleaning my gun the gunsmith pointed out a lot of lead buildup and told me to get a cleaner with solvent in for occasional use. I did, but I've run out and want to order some online. What would you recommend?

That's the way to DTL it

I had a DTL lesson and I am signed up to shoot a registered at the weekend. I have managed to shoot 125 DTL birds since the lesson, so I am feeling under prepared. Does anyone have any advice they would like to share that could help my DTL career get off to a good start? It's actually the County...

    Proofed for steel?

Having taken an absolute bath on my last gun (you can go wrong with a brand name) I'm upgrading to something that suits me better. I was looking at a 682 gold E but a very good friend has offered me a Perazzi. The gun is great, it's a very generous offer as it's way below market price, but I...

    A compromise

Saw this, thought it might be a compromise for those who like three cartridges but still want to shoot trap.

    Coached by Cheryl Hall

On Saturday I was lucky enough to be coached by Cheryl Hall. This was at the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club at AGL. It turns out that Cheryl is as good a coach as she is a shot. Obviously you don't get 33 world titles without knowing what you are doing but doing and coaching are not the same...
