Im also a new shooter and found the same problem, for me a bit more spray and elbow grease seems to do the trick. I know several people who say you dont need a mirror finish but as new to the sport as I am, cleaning and admiring the shine is still a part of the fun. I guess it might wear off in time.

Never had a dirty "quality" cartridge (unless they have been cold or damp) only ever had dirty barrels from cheapo loads.

just saying

I was going to say something but stopped myself because I'm a ladeeeeeeee

the most I do is use a Stanley blade to scrape the 1mm of plastic residue out of the chokes,`else you end up with extra-extra full, only way it comes out  !!

I found that Tesco's 50 Oval pads  (cotton wool) make excellent cleaning pads,

they fit round the Jag nicley, and can be used twice before they are fouled.

Depending on how tighly you wind them, they will fit the chamber/ cone and barrell

best part is they are only about £1 a pack. i use roughly  6 -10 per cleaning session

:santa:
