Any personal goals for the 2017 season?

I started late this year, my goal for the year was simply get my licence and have a go.... mission achieved! :D Next year will be actually taking part in some registered sporting shoots and trying to achieve 60% hit...

    Sporting first timer

You are right there! The ones I miss teach me a lot more than the ones I hit. Although I'm much happier when I hit them than miss them! For me there was a lot of overthinking, especially on some of those fast birds. Uploaded a couple of short videos. One from the 110' high tower and the other a...

    Sporting first timer

Thanks :)  I now have a starting point for my next attempt - not sure when that will be, but getting a baseline is good. Thanks Liz :)  a lot more practice and some good coaching will help me on the types of targets I'm struggling with. You shot extremely well today too!

    Sporting first timer

I've been doing a lot of skeet so was pretty much already hooked on that too. But I can see myself enjoying sporting a lot! :)

    Sporting first timer

Was finally time to grab the bull by the horns and get out and try some proper sporting. All a bit new to me! So I went along to the Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club shoot at Sporting Targets, Risely today. Some crazy targets that everyone struggled with and a few that annoyed me as they should...

    Got it!

Thanks. Poor old car gets completely thrashed everywhere... It's a race car that happens to also be a road car, so it gets driven hard. Procharger going on next year...

    DTL first timer

Thanks :)  Used my Lanber, swapped the chokes out (3/4 instead of skeet), whether it made a difference or not I don't know. But it worked... using Hull Comp X in 21g 7.5 It all works when I point it in the right direction anyway.

    DTL first timer

I've mainly been shooting skeet and a little simple sporting stuff recently. But I didn't have anyone with me to button today, so some nice chaps invited me to have a go at DTL with them. Rather enjoyed myself, stuck with first barrel only for a start to give me chance to reflect on my misses...

    Present ideas

I've just been recovering from surgery too :(  long recovery (3 months) and a period of inactivity (4 weeks) - gave me chance to set up my 25yd air rifle range in the back garden again and have a bit of a plink. Not too far to walk and not strenuous. While I was totally housebound I resorted...

One eye, both eyes, does it matter?

Been playing around with one eye vs both eyes today - I think I'm starting to get the hang of both eyes now and keeping my focus on the clay. I do tend to mount with one eye shut and then open both, I think it's a comfort thing at this stage, as I rarely find I need to adjust my mount at all -...

    Extended chokes for game

Explains why I don't get invited out much   I'm not making my point very well, but anyway, it matters not :) Your arguments against conformity are lost on me. I neither conform nor don't conform in many ways.

    Extended chokes for game

So, my 'tradition' of non conformity would certainly be unwelcome on a game shoot by the sounds of it? I don't follow any particular group or fashion at all. However I'll vigorously defend anyone's right to dress however they wish without prejudice. I do quite a bit for the Sophie Lancaster...

    Extended chokes for game

I would... although I don't golf. I'd go in jeans, a vest top and trainers as its what I would find comfortable for that activity. I'm a 'professional' in my work life - I meet lots of other professionals from around the world on a weekly basis for various business meetings. While I dress...

    Extended chokes for game

IMO dress doesn't define (nor command) respect although I understand it does to some... The persons attitude and ability is what defines that to me, not what they wear or what gun they choose to shoot with. As for the tradition bit - it's great that some people still want to uphold that - but...

    Extended chokes for game

Tradition? Does a grouse/pheasant care if you are wearing a shirt and tie rather than a hoody? Perhaps they are more intelligent than I thought!  (I'm being a bit silly... ;) )

    Extended chokes for game

Easier to shoot or just different? What's appropriate attire and what dictates what should be worn on a shoot? Why should someone be turned away due to the way they happen to be dressed assuming it's not offensive? My idea of smart and 'in keeping with a shirt and tie' are probably very...

    Extended chokes for game

What's the difference? Define clay gun vs game gun for me? What makes it easier to hit your target with one vs the other? I've never worn a shirt and tie in my life. Or do you only allow guys on your shoots too? PS I'm not being facetious, just curious.

    Extended chokes for game

Absolutely :) I'm about the least traditional shooter you'll find...   although game isn't really my thing I wouldn't say no if I was asked to a pheasant shoot or similar as I do like a bit of pheasant for the pot. In that case the chokes in my gun would be the least of the worries.
