Beginners kit - what to buy

I've got a pretend 4x4 (Lexus NX) .. so I'm covered on that front. ;o) I think eyes and ear protection is commonsense ..  So I think I'll start with Eye and ear protection Skeet vest Some kind of cartridge / range bag. New Credit Card   Thanks all for the suggestions.

Beginners kit - what to buy

Me again  ;o)    Anyone bored of answering my newbie questions yet ? I'm a scuba diver, and like shooting, there's a myriad of equipment and shiny things to buy.  Some we define as things that every diver should own, and not rent / hire / borrow.  We call them, the ABCs - which stands for Mask...

    First gun - why shouldn't I buy a Baikal?

I'm a diver too Adam .. so I can relate to what you said.  When I was doing my OW, my instructor said "Diving is cheap .. once you've qualified".   Thats right.  After you've bought the Mk25 S600 regs, and the Waterproof D7 Drysuit, and the cylinders, and then decide to go the DIR route ...    ...

    First gun - why shouldn't I buy a Baikal?

As some will have seen elsewhere on this forum, I'm putting my first steps into the world of clay pigeon shooting.  Having had a few lessons over at Sporting Targets, I've purchased my cabinet (awaiting delivery) and currently awaiting my SGC approval.  All that's left, is the shotgun, and some...

    Gun cabinet - newbie questions

Thanks guys - looking for a suitable cabinet now.   In respect of ammo - TVP's website says "As a matter of best practice, ammunition for section 1 firearms should be kept secure and separate from the firearm. Although secure storage of shotgun cartridges is not a requirement of the Firearms...

Shotgun certificate application - no gun, and no cabinet

So this thread is now kinda moot as suggested for the above reasons.  So yes - now I'm looking at gun safes, and a suitable place in the home. I've thrown an email to TVP to ask if I need to amend my SGC application as I've stated on there that there are no security arrangements at home.

Buy or hire - that is the question

Thanks for all the replies. Seems gun ownership might be the way to go.  Next time I'm in Sporting Targets (I might pop up this weekend for a lesson if they have space) I might see what guns are available in the shop. If anyone is up there - and you hear my welsh dulcet tones - feel free to...

Shotgun certificate application - no gun, and no cabinet

Hi all, I've applied for my first SGC with TVP.  Further some advice given to me from (see this thread) I had opted not to look at purchasing a gun, not least for the first 6/12 months anyway.  Consequently I figured that if I don't have a gun - there's no point in having a cabinet at home. So...

Buy or hire - that is the question

Hi all, So newbie shooter here - having had just 3 lessons (and a couple of fun corporate shoot days) I'm hooked.   So far - pretty common stuff eh. I'm a scuba diver, and in our club one of the biggest mistakes people make is buying the shiniest, prettiest thing they can afford very soon...

Hi all, I'm Andy from Milton Keynes.   IT geek and scuba diver (any Stoney regulars here ?). Currently under instruction at Sporting Targets .. loving it already after just 3 visits.   However finding my lack of a gun & certificate a hindrance, as I'm unable to practice what I've been...
