    Stock damage

I did have a stock quite badly damaged by a very well known shop’s gunsmith while a u-bolt was being changed. Took a bit of arguing but got a small (in my opinion) contribution to a new stock (because I rejected the ‘we’ll refinish it for you’ option) That was clearly it being clamped...

    Total Noob 1st Gun

Just to add, if you’re starting out you’ve made a great choice. When I started I swore I was a Browning guy and even after a lot of very expensive lessons anything Italian (Beretta etc). Would hit me in the face. Three year break from shooting and fresh lessons at Holland and Holland (again...

    budget starter gun

I think there’s a lot of confusion over steel shot, unless you’re shooting HP steel, nitro proof is fine

    Beretta 694 Problem

Same problem for me. DT11 demo gun at Holland and Holland. Top lever stuck on most stands. Could get it open eventually but took a lot of effort and left me we badly bruised thumbs/fingers. Maybe it’s bad luck, but a demo gun needs to work - simples Bought a Perazzi (used) instead

Pilla Outlaw X7 XW Frame Blue and Yellow Unused

Hi Annoyingly for sale, I bought these new last weekend from a well known shop (which shall remain nameless) - I wanted X6 (the larger size), but like an idiot got a X7 (smaller size pair). I found this out the moment I got home and tried to plug my lenses in, but the shop won't accept them as...

    Shoe Advice

Hi all during the winter I shoot (clay grounds and sim days), in a decent pair of hiking boots - I like the grip and ankle stability.  We’ve got a couple of sim days booked over the summer months and the thought of a day in heavy boots isn’t very appealing, but normal trainers won’t look the...

Are most guns over choked for sporting clays?

I think the truth is it’s down to the gun/cartridge - In my gun 3/8 seems really open and I miss many more than when I use 1/2.    That doesn’t make sense, but somehow 1/2 is spot on for my gun at the range and with the cartridges I use. Other guns have shot the same with 1/4

    Licence renewal

My GP refuses to take part on ‘’conscientious grounds’ which is apparently increasingly common- have ended up using a third party company who get a copy of medical records and write the required letter - bit of a farce

Ian Coley shooting ground ( first visit)

Shot there recently for the first time in 5-6 years. Found the ground as good as ever, everything works, nice targets,  spotlessly clean. And had a lovely time in the shop - spent over an hour in there chatting about stocks etc. no pressure sale just a good chat. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it...

Fleece Waist Coats for Ladies with Recoil Pad - Help!

Thanks for the replies.    does seem odd it’s very easy to get this for a man but not a woman I get your points on the pad, and broadly I agree - still odd tho

Fleece Waist Coats for Ladies with Recoil Pad - Help!

Hi I hope someone can help me, I’ve got a Schoffel fleece ‘gilet’ which has a built in pad at the shoulder, works great - like it a lot. My (female) partner has just started shooting and would like to get something similar, but try as we might - we can’t find anything like it, women’s either...

Issues with cheeckbone bruising - expert help needed.

I had quite a few lessons with a top, name coach. My gun fitted by someone who was well recommended - and I still would intermittently get a heavily bruised cheek, to the point of visible bruising. Started shooting again after a 4-5 year break, and it was sorted in one lesson at Holland and...

    Gun reviews on youtube

I’ve shot a Zoli Z Sport a few times and to be honest liked it a lot. Nice stock, shot well - had a really nice balance, nice combination of speed but also a bit of stability, so it stayed where you put it. BUT as Lloyd summed up - I didn’t buy it because of the chance of resale, buy new and...

    Beretta unveiling... something?

Held one today at the Beretta shop in St James, have to say - felt great, yes the wood is a bit plain, but in the flesh looks good and came up really well. IF I wanted a light 12bore, it’s worth a try

Recommendation for shooting coach north / north west London

Bit late to this, but I really like the coaching at Holland and Holland, I previously (some years back) was coached by a well known coach, H&H have really put me in the right direction much more. So maybe check out other schools like Holland and Holland/West London etc.? Some coaches are...
