Just got back, great shoot as we've come to expect from the hodnet team. a little disappointed with 89, no real disasters anywhere just constantly dripped targets all the way around straighted a couple of stands along the top including salopians stand (12) Would love to have gone around for...

I totally agree with everything you said above salopian,  especially the bit about Rich Hughes, I know him well, couldn't wish to meet a nicer bloke, he certainly has the game to win it, if he brings it on the day

Yes he is very capable, don't know him well, but a mate of mine shoots regularly with him, a registered shoot I was at recently he straighted, in my opinion it wasn't there, my mate who was with him said it was amazing to watch him fill it in. im going for mark winser

That's a shame james, I would have liked to have met you.  You mostly say what I'm thinking safe trip down, and shoot well. are you trying for the Scottish sporting team this year ?  Im going for the welsh team again,  1st man in last year, but fear I'll struggle this time, first qualifier...

Hi all, are many off here going to hodnet for the English open this week ? I'm shooting it on the Saturday and hoping it stays dry.  Big entry I'm told, but hodnet are used to it. anyone brave enough to predict the winner ?

Probably lifting your head, keep it down tight on the stock with the eyes up and locked on to the target

Hi Ian, just read through it all and came to the question above. in a word yes the dog gets used to hearing it and there are no consequences for not obeying, you need to get out to her and give her a shake, she thinks bugger him I'm having to much fun to bother with all this obedience rubbish...

Well, I went and it rained, couldn't fault the targets and it ran like clockwork for our gang of 4 only really having to wait on 1 stand, was pleased with my score of 88 and was leading when I left. Now the wait to see if I am in the prizes at all.  I made a point of telling Tom and deb that...

I've shot the challenge a few times, it's very well run, targets very good, it's a lovely ground and if you've not been before would I would highly recommend it,  (Now the bad) bits, it usually rains, there can be long queues on the stands, the payouts are a joke. I've been in the money a few...

Ever thought about trying a Jones adjuster thingy that will enable you to slide the pad down, therefore bringing the stock up to your face more.  I have to say don't know much about them, but looking at some peoples guns around the shoots, you see all sorts of heights and angles of there recoil...

If they are proper registered DTL targets you don't get many chips with 3/8 in the 1st barrel, as long as your on em quick, you need to shoot em like you really want to mash em up, If your the sort that likes to let em get out a bit then 1/2 is the way forward 

Try putting the gun barrel down in 3 inches of diesel for 24hrs, this should release the grime around the chokes, if not it looks like a trip to to gunsmith, probably will have to be warmed up,  (not recommended to try at home)
