    Buying a gun

If you were buying a gun what would be more important when it came to the asking price. The actual age of the gun or the condition of the gun? For example would you be inclined to spend more on a gun that is much older but in better condition than a similar gun ? Reason I ask is I am selling my...

    Interesting

I am sure we have all debated the how much lead do you need and is a lighter load as good or even a benefit in shooting ?This guy seems to think not... I have always been inclined to think the more stuff you have in your cartridge the better the chance of breaking the target it seems common...

    Patterning....

OK so the long lay off has had quite an effect on my shooting... negatively  So I have never checked the patterns or POI of my gun on the plate and am now thinking it may be a good idea to do so. My thinking is that it may at least give me confidence that my gun is shooting in the right...

    Randolph shooting glasses

Hi I changed my glasses from Ranger XLW to Falcons. The Falcons are fine in general but they have cable legs on them and while these are good for holding the glasses in position I find them far less convenient when I need to say wipe some mist or what ever off when shooting. Does anybody know if...

    Pilla shooting glasses

Thinking about new shooting glasses and some guys around me are using these. Can the price of these shooting glasses be justified for just an everyday non champion shooter? From all angles safety as well as vision and target acquisition. I currently use Randolph XWL but would like to get the...

    World UT Ychoux

Not many trap shooters posting here now... but it won't stop me :)   So off to Ychoux tomorrow for a week of great fun and enjoyment at a really nice shooting ground. Will be at the ground on Monday for some training and hope to meet up with any UK shooters for a natter and a round of shooting...

shooting at Lazenay French UT champs

I am at Lazenay for the French UT championships which start on Thursday. I was at the shooting ground today for a quick look around and while it is not a bad ground, I think it is far too cramped. They have shoehorned in 8 setups but I honestly think they are far too close together. I was...

    Ergosing evocomp stocks

Hi Anybody have any advice on just whether the Evocomp is worth the extra it costs over newer arrivals on the market. The reason I ask is I have three options just now having taken the decision to go with this type of stock. option 1 secondhand Evocomp in pristine condition for €1545   Option...

    Trust super trap

Hi Tried these out at the weekend. I was using them for practice for UT at €220 (about £ 190)  per thousand I thought they were really good if you can find them in the UK give them a try out they are a nice low recoil cartridge.

    piston wadded cartridges

What are the obvious differences between  a normal skirt wad cartridge and a piston waded cartridge with respect to patterning? I tried a few of the Joker piston wadded cartridges yesterday for UT and thought they were quite good if a bit thumpy. The price is good though and I think I might try...

    joker piston

I was handed a few of these to try yesterday. I would not normally associate a piston wadded cartridge with a trap discipline though. Anyway tried them and they broke the targets ok thought the were a bit thumpy though but at €212 or £184 per thousand they look to be good value. The shells...

    Nice video

Found this on youtube very interesting. It is funny because all the techniques used here are  "interdite" for pigeon shooters. I have told many hunters here how it is possible to shoot large numbers of pigeons per day in the UK... the are almost in tears because they cannot shoot them using the...

    stock finish

OK so I have a Beretta 687 silver pigeon III which I bought new many years back. I have it for sale and had an enquiry about the stock wood being different to the forend. Now to be honest I hardly shot the gun and the wood does look different... much lighter in colour and not as well grained...

    selling guns to a dealer

I have a couple of guns that I do not use so thought I should get them sold off. I have a couple of options one being taking them to a gun shop to try for a price the other putting them on an internet site to sell them there. Taking them to the dealer would probably be the easy way to go first...

    Done it at last

Well today I managed to shoot a straight 25 with the first barrel for the first time. I know that you don't get anything extra for that but it felt great    I had twice done it with 26 cartridges but I have now managed a "vingt-cinq royale"
