Set in Wiltshire along side the A303 at Deptford, Wylye Valley Shooting Ground is just about one of the best little grounds there is….fact.Wylye is known for it's targets on and off the high bank as well as the more everyday targets on the front lawns.Owned by Ian Stones who has an uncanny knack of putting on the simplest of targets that will fool even the best of shooters as well as targets that will boost your confidence no end.The ground is set in a small picturesque valley and has a full tarmac drive the whole length of the shoot, so wellies and mud are very rare. The food at Wylye is truly awesome and mostly home made by Ians lovely wife Val. Val's full english breakfasts seriously take some beating, believe me, I have the Tummy to prove it./wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif Her cakes are all home made and very, very addictive./wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gifThe toilets are always clean and the ground is always tidy with the lawns always mown.Wylye is by a country mile the friendliest ground you will ever shoot at and that's why I chose to shoot and Coach there as often as I can.Clays on practice days (Thursdays, Saturdays) are £27 per 100.Cartridges are £4.50 a box.Full English is £5 and really worth it.Wylye Valley is one ground that everyone should visit at least once.I guarantee you'll come back./wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif

Hello Robert and welcome to Shoot Clay, I'm impressed with your right up about Wylye, you make it sound just like what many others have said about it, I'd love to make over to shoot it some day (if Ian lets me in /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-smile.gif )  you did forget to mention one thing about Wylye and Ian and the fact that young kids shoot free accompanied by an adult, I remember Ian telling me that on that other site and it's one thing I think is very admirable for Ian to do as our sport needs all the new blood in it we can get, I really will have to try and get over next summer and meet you all and have a shot.Nigel

Hello mate, yeah your right, youngsters under 16 do shoot for free at registered shoots when accompanied by a shooter that has paid the full price to enter.  It's something we are very proud of at Wylye Valley. We also specialise in teaching the youngsters and Ladies. We have several England squad shooters, both men and women, Sporting and FITASC that come for a brush-up as well as a World Champion or two.  /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif

Nigel, You won't be disappointed if you make it over. I'm pretty sure that Ian would stand you a cup of tea aswell. In the past me and Hazel have spent many an hour watching the afternoon sun go down drinking tea and talking to Ian and who ever is around, including Robbie. They have a relaxed policy for practice in that you go and shoot and then pay afterwards, so if you want to only shot 50 then thats ok or you can shoot as many as you like.

Sounds great ..Im looking forward to shooting there this weekend ! /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-smile.gif Rob
