Its a good habit to adopt, I have had my clay guns switched to safety to avoid getting used to not having one and watching that Grouse whistle past to the resonate sound of 'click' and the chorus of profanity. No downside in having a safety on a clay gun, no downside in closing a gun properly...

Why does no one close a gun properly anymore? Seems particularly prevalent at clay grounds and amongst ‘celebrities’..

I don't see the bead but have a tiny FO red bead on my clay gun which definitely reduces the occasional tendency or my eye dominance to have a rethink.

By way of update, I spent a fascinating hour with a very well recommended stocker close to home which has lead to the face of the comb being flattened (weirdly it was convex and when viewed from above the stick was oval) and a little taken off to give me the sight picture at mount that i wanted...

i think  the idea of lowering vat is to encourage consumer spending not to feather the clay ground nest!  If this is indeed the case its a very poor show indeed, especially when they put back to 20% and everyone gets a significant uplift in costs, I certainly wont be attending ground that do...

Shooting a pattern plate cant do any harm so long as you accept its not a the panacea.  Eyesight can change quote a bit depending on stress, caffeine intake (for me anyway), tiredness, light conditions and the fact that vision isn't a fixed thing (according to my optometrist) .. Could well be...
