Sporting Shoots 2021. Reports and discussion.

Me too, was a cracking shoot, one of the best I’ve shot I reckon.

ESP, CPSA reg - squadding can end

Bad news for me as far as Gunsite is concerned, it’s a really popular ground and has taken me 3.5-4 hrs to complete a round when busy which stopped me going there for a while, squadding cut that time in half and worked brilliantly, probably won’t go there too often when the free for all returns.

ESP, CPSA reg - squadding can end

Not looking forward to it. Hated the idea of squadding in the beginning but quickly came to realise it’s much quicker and easier. I’ve also met and shot with some great people I otherwise probably would never have even spoken to.

    Prize money.

Wouldn’t be for me thanks, I just see it as a thinly veiled experiment to see if we’ll wear being charged a higher entry fee, the big prize will soon be removed however the higher fee will remain in place. If In turn they remove B/O it would probably be back to club shooting all bar the odd...

I live in Wales so no laws were broken😉

Has shooting started in Scotland and wales

Crossed the border on many occasions for work and have rarely even seen any police let alone been stopped. Yes grounds are opening, had my first shot yesterday as they were allowed to re open from 12:00am Saturday, enjoyed myself immensely👍🏻, bit rusty though😳😂. The 5 mile “rule” is guidance...

So... What do we think of squadded shoots?

I hated squadded shoots but have come to see the benefits, a more structured day and no silly concentration haemorrhaging queues. However you do get in the odd silly squad with some who do more talking than shooting, people insisting on having a full blown conversation at the side of the cage...

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Shot Widdington yesterday, always looked forward to going there as the scenery is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately I won’t be going back, can’t say we suffered too much with no birds but I genuinely felt like I was in the shoot off for the world championship or something equally prestigious...

    Blandford and Dorchester Shooting Ground

Yes, my membership lapsed recently as I didn’t see the point in renewing something I couldn’t use whilst in lockdown and all my records disappeared. Very odd thing to do.

    MedCert

May have to go down this route myself when renewal comes around as last time my GP refused to provide the requested information. Luckily enough my certificate was still granted.

    Plastic or Fibre Wad

Most of my shooting is plastic. The only alternative I’ve found that I would be happy to shoot in competition instead of plastic wad Ely superbs would be Eley VIP sporting however the difference in cost would be prohibitive/eye watering.

    Changes to Classification procedure

Hinging on my next few shoots not being a total disaster I was planning for a 6 month visit to AA,  Guess It may only be A flying visit now then ..

    Eley Superbs

Always shot VIP Trap 7.5 & VIP Skeet until I encountered a quite heavy dip in form and felt I couldn’t do the cost justice so dropped down to Superb 7.5. When my supplier ran out and only had 8’s I reluctantly gave them a go and am glad I did, still can’t believe what they’ll break!. Now...

You may find it takes a while to get used to them, took me a couple of weeks when I made the swap. Best of luck.
