What is this??

Hi guys, long time no speak. University eventually got in the way and shooting had to be put on the side! I’ve just recently been out again however noticed these strange marks on my gun. Anybody know what these are / what they’re from? Is there anyway I can remove them?

Likely residue of some kind. Or possibly stains from cleaning solution, which can be(come) slightly acidic. Given that it’s bare steel, try a tiny amount of “Flitz” on a piece of cloth and polish it off. For best results, rub the affected are in one way (not circles, and not “up and down”) until clean. Don’t rub the grouse or it’ll lose feathers.
