Custom fit ear muffs??

Take a look at your gun mount in a mirror to see if you roll your head over the stock to much, if so seek the advice of an instructor, if it's how you are "built " take a look at in ear protection 
My mount is fine. Maybe my build, like smaller gap between ear and shoulder. I've been using fitted plugs for years.
If I'm reffing or scoring I use ear muffs, and think that it would be nice to use them all the time......especially in the winter.
I think it's just me, because other peeps I've asked said that their cans hitting their stocks doesn't bother them.

...even those designed for shooting (thinner style shell)?
I use the relatively inexpensive HL’s, and they don’t hit my stock. Wife uses the same, and no problem.
