Hi all, it’s good to finally join the forum, I’ve been following it for quite a while but I received my certificate last Monday so decided to join. I bought my gun last Tuesday from Kelbrook Lodge and went and shot a few cartridges on Thursday. Really enjoyed it but noticed the other shooters were all in pairs which is obviously much better. I’m an absolute novice so was wondering if anyone in the local area (Manchester) and also fairly new to shooting, or experienced for that matter, would like a companion to shoot with, either at Manchester Shooting Club or Kelbrook Lodge or anywhere fairly local for that matter. Please let me know if anyone is interested.

Hi Phil,

Kelbrook lodge is my local ground and I usually shoot solo aswell. I normally only manage to go shooting once or twice a month due to family and work commitments, however I would definitely be interested in meeting up for a round of clays. I've been clay shooting for a couple of years now, but still very much consider myself a novice, so it might be a case of the blind leading the blind, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. PM me if you want and we can arrange meeting up. Cheers.

Hi lh8611

I’d love to meet up for a round of clays, unfortunately I don’t know how to PM yet so I’ll have a look round the site and try to find out how to do it, these sites are all new to me. I’m retired so am available most days and times so it would probably be best if I fitted in with your available times. I’d tell you to PM me but I wouldn’t know how to find it. Cheers.

Kelbrook is a very friendly place and during the week there are a quite a few shooters there who shoot on their own ( every stand has a solo shooter delay function so it’s not a problem )

If you’re ever up on your own It’s not out of order if you see anyone sitting in the cabin on their own to ask if they fancy shooting with you .

However don’t be offended if someone says no , it might be someone just wants to shoot 50 high bird targets or practice 10 problem pairs and work it out .

I do shoot there ( solo usually ) but never on any specific time or day , just random if I’m in the area . If you ever see a bronze Hi-lux there with the Reg B4*** I’ll happily join you.

Thanks very much for the advice Martyn. When you say cabin do you mean the one near the lake or the cafe? I’ll look out for your car when I’m up there.

Welcome to the Forum.
If your Manchester area they’re are quite a few local clubs worth a look too. I work in the area during the week but don’t get chance to visit to shoot.

Hello Phil,

The below is a link to a post I put on here a while back about a friendly club that may be within striking distance for you. They go out in squads (groups) and will put you with others if you are a solo shooter. Either give John a call (mention you saw this post) or ask me on here if you want to know more about it.

Hi JP

I followed your thread and it looks brilliant to be honest. I’ve literally just started shooting so I’m as green as a cabbage. If you think I’d be okay going as a complete novice then I’ll give John a bell and have a conversation. I’d be grateful if you could give me a postcode as I don’t know that area at all. Many thanks for the info.

Thanks for the welcome Figgy, I’m only just realising that there are more clubs than I first realised. I intend to look on the CPSA website and try to locate a few. Cheers.

Hello Phil,

They would make you more than welcome and all levels of shooter go up. Give John a call.

What3Words for where the track to the club starts is simulates.suppose.splinters or put Brosters Environmental Ltd (Bacup Road) into Google Maps.

Not all will be CPSA registered grounds. Google usually brings up lots more on the maps.
