    Noob Again - Lead

I'm sure I've heard of him. Greg, or something like that.

    Another noob saying Hi

I have a 694 and love it. I would only change it for something ridiculous like a DT11 Black Edition. It's an amazing clay gun for a reasonable price (relatively). That's all just my opinion of course.

    comb too high ?

And I thank you for that.

    Lyalvale English Sporter fibre ?

They are my clubs home cartridge (in plastic) so I've shot a couple of thousand (in plastic). I don't think they are particularly thumpy at all. Give them a go and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

    comb too high ?

I personally like a flat shooting gun. It's hard enough for me to get onto a target. I don't like to also have to triangulate as if I'm shooting from the hip! I would value a session with a pattern plate though. I would like to know just what the pattern looks like at given ranges/choke.

    Hi!

My mistake, I didn't mean specifically tighter to open. Just tighter in tolerances. The ATA doesn't rattle but somehow feels a little looser compared to the beretta. I admit I've never handled a CG but I'll keep my eye open. Not that I'm looking to move away from my 694 but it's nice to know!

    That the CG was tighter?

Can confirm. My wife's ATA is... OK. But in put-together-ness it's well short of my Beretta. It just feels a little less precise, a little less done. The tolerances are greater, level of finish is lower. I was really considering a yildiz pro but if it feels as 'budget' I'm glad I went deeper...

How to identify old Rizzini o/u

If he's not had it serviced regularly (or at all) you might be surprised by how it comes back. It looks like a plain bit of timber but even at that having the dents and scratches steamed out then a nice oil finish done would make it look like new. It all depends on how much you're willing to put...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Came 3rd in my club shoot. It was only a fun shoot of 50 sporting, 25 DTL and 25 Skeet. Maybe only 50 shooters there, but I had a great day out and chuffed at a result like that for my 2nd real comp. There were a lot better shooters than me in attendance and my assigned handicap is what put me...

    Beretta 694 ACS

I don't have one but I would think that if you're spending the extra then you must be planning on moving it between disciplines. I don't get that though. I would have thought you would want a consistent sight picture every time you shoot or you'll spend a few shots re-learning.

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

I think I can go as far as a bacon roll and Styrofoam cup of tea. Thankfully all those places are hours away from me.

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

Indeed. The short term solution is never the best option. This hypothetical hero is planning to win her over with her own shotgun and some Amber Hill's pink cartridges for her birthday.

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

Have you heard of the Vimes theory of economics? "The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But...

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

My club's just increased the club cartridges (either Velocity+ or English Sporting) to £8 a box, up from £7.50. And I noticed the 20 bores are now £9.50 a box! I might have to start just hurling insults at the clays and see if that breaks them instead.

Semi auto, love em / hate em.

Interestingly enough TGS just put up a video on the Berreta UGB. I've never seen anything like it but it makes sense hearing the issues faced by semi's on a trap line. Mainly that it ejects from the bottom. He said they are prohibitively expensive these days but I haven't gotten round to...

Thermal or NV sight for shotgun?

Or, fit an IR laser to the gun like a shotcam and wear some nods directly.

    Another old chestnut!

I would be interested, just for the rankings alone. But from my (all be it limited) research online it seems that the cpsa registered shoots aren't in Scotland. So I would need to travel a fair distance to attend. Not really cool with that.
