    Fashionable skeet gun

I'm assuming you're talking about domestic skeet rather than the ISSF version. In general, skeet guns have got longer and heavier over the past 10-15 years. Thirty inch barrels are probably the most common on a skeet layout these days although thirty two inches are popular. Much depends on your...

    Rule changes

I do, as do several others. They’re not banned by the CPSA, only the ISSF for events under their jurisdiction.

    Rule changes

Rule changes have been introduced for DTL, ABT, OT and OSK. This places the CPSA in line with the ISSF. Key amongst them is the prohibition of semi automatic and pump action shotguns for registered events. This is with immediate effect. Details here...

    Behaviour please.

I’m afraid it’s necessary for me to pop my moderators hat on. Ladies and gentlemen, please remember your manners when posting on this website. Keen discussion is welcome but, just recently, more than a few conversations have become unnecessarily nasty. I’ve also had to have quiet word with a...

    If you were starting again,,,,,,

Not a lot really. Perhaps I should have found a coach I bonded with a little earlier. I made the common mistake of following the well intentioned advice of competitors at the local club rather than seeking out a professional. The mish-mash of styles and techniques took some undoing. That said...

Dickinson Hunter over under 28" 12ga

I doubt you’ll get many replies here as it’s a gun not readily available in the UK or Europe. You may be better asking your question on trapshooters.com I’d imagine it’ll be fairly useless for American Trap/ATA targets. Much too light, low in the comb and short in the barrel. I can think of a...

    budget starter gun

If you’re spending less that £600 then an ATA will suit you fine. They’re a lot of gun for the money although the trigger pulls are awful. Up to £1000 and I’d look at a used Browning/Miroku/Beretta. More gun and a better resale value should you sell it.

    Pitch and POI

As Russell correctly says, incorrect pitch affects second barrel shot placement insofar as too much muzzle movement hampers the ability to move the gun smoothly. It won’t alter point of impact as the shot’s left the barrel before the symptoms of incorrect pitch are felt. It surprises me how...

    Dirty ends!

Firstly, I no longer feel comfortable about resting the muzzle of the (broken/unloaded) gun on my foot while waiting to shoot in case I damage the blueing at the and if the tubes. is that likely? No, not really. If you're worried get yourself a leather toe rest or rest the gun on the mat...

Zoli Vs Rizzini Vs Beretta Vs Caesar Guerini

Ultimately, whatever anyone says it’s down to how the gun feels and performs. Don’t forget the gun is simply a tool to break clays. If it doesn’t fit or deliver results it’s worthless, no matter how good it looks. In my view the Beretta’s streets ahead of the others. Cesar Guerini’s are more...

    Consultation on Firearms Licensing

Survey completed. Given the potential impact of the proposed changes it’s a shame the CPSA aren’t pushing this. That said, I’ll take no instructions from BASC. Rather like the NRA in the US, I think they've fallen into the trap of saying no to any and all change, no matter how sensible it may...

What brands - type 22Lr ammo was available in the 1930’s and 40’s in the USA ?

This is a clay shooting website. You may have more luck asking the question on a rife shooters forum.

    Ported Chokes?

Are there any benefits? In a word, no. This topic has been discussed in detail several times before. Have a look through the old posts, you’ll find all you need to know.

Semi auto, love em / hate em.

Not likely, for obvious reasons they’re forbidden at ISSF events.

    Repairing new shotgun

Bluing barrels is a fairly straightforward albeit time consuming process. Preparation is everything and largely determines the quality of the finish. Once done it’ll last years providing the barrels are well looked after. Be careful putting your gun in a rack and particularly avoid gun slips as...

    Steel Proof?

Your barrels are fine for standard steel once the chokes have been opened out. As others have said, don’t shoot steel shot through 3/4 and full choke, you will undoubtedly damage them over time. There will be some that say it’s fine, others who know someone who knows someone that’s been doing it...
