    Newcomers to our sport.

It never ceases to amaze me that some individuals can be so selfish, petty and small-minded to object to a complete novice being assisted on the stand of their first competition. As if the novice will suddenly transform into a seasoned shot and win the competition! Unfortunately, you find these...

    Choke Grease

Hmm, perhaps I'm just obsessive - I remove my chokes after every shoot, clean the threads with an old toothbrush and a squirt of Legia, apply some gun oil and replace. Takes a couple of minutes and you know that they won't rust or seize. It's how I was taught!

Cartridge price increases now getting silly

I think it will get FAR worse if the proposed expedited plans to phase out lead shot are brought in.

    Dirty ends!

My shooting buddy calls my toe-flap "The Pussy Pad" - as only a complete pussy needs to use one! Hurts my feelings every time ... maybe he's got a point!!!! :) :)

Semi auto, love em / hate em.

@AW13 Absolutely - I'm sure there are MANY good, considerate, safe users of SA's and I didn't mean to tar them all with the same brush. Should have phrased my comment more thoughtfully. Thanks for the feedback.

    Just started my journey

Hi Chiz, You could do a lot worse than checking out the CPSA club directory on their website: https://www.cpsa.co.uk/clubs You can search by your postcode or by region. If you live near Bisley, you could come along to the National Clay Shooting Centre (my own stomping ground) - there's Trap...

Semi auto, love em / hate em.

I'm really uncomfortable being on a shooting line with someone using a semi auto or pump action. I can't see them broken so I can't be sure they aren't cocked and loaded. Worse still, semi auto users too often seem oblivious to swinging their gun muzzles across other individuals. Very bad form!

    Afternoon All.

I'm in agreement with those above - don't worry about cartridge brands in the short term. Go for the cheapest you can get and get lots of shooting practice. Develop a sound gun-mount and technique, THEN start to consider the characteristics of specific cartridges. Have fun!

    Consultation on Firearms Licensing

Sorry JJ47, but IMHO your attitude to this entire issue is wrong - the shooting community cannot afford to indulge in the sort of anti-police / anti-state rhetoric that comes so easily to you. We cannot and will not be seen as anarchists, railing against the forces of law and order ... it's...

Done - thanks for the reminder.

    Cert Renewal and GP

I feel your pain - GP's charge for whatever they can get away with, despite being paid VERY well and doing less and less work since the pandemic. That being said, I agree with others here on the forum - bite the bullet, pay the fee, get your certificate sorted. It's the path of least resistance.

    Shotkam gen 4 vs gen3

As well as offering 4K video, the Gen 4 has x2 to x8 zoom - that's significantly more versatile than the x4 of the Gen 3 ... BUT it's not cheap at almost £650. I bit the bullet and bought the Gen 4. My only gripe is that the memory card is not changeable, but I REALLY like the Shotkam. It's...

Returning Clay Shooter & New Member

Hi All, I'm just getting back into the sport after a 20 year break (you know how work can get in the way). I shoot at the National Clay Shooting Centre, Bisley - starting with English Skeet to get my eye back in then I want to try Sporting. My gun is a Miroku 7000 Sporter - practically unused as...
