Just feel I need to pop back in to this post to hopefully give some useful advice and save somebody a nasty experience.
Jeez. Always used to put chokes in with just a little oil on the threads. Never had an issue, loads of guns over 20 years. Last time, I used some proper Teague grease on my...
Hi all,
I’m now available for a day or two per week to instruct / coach Sporting. It’s not what I’m doing for a living, so my rates are very sensible, but I am passionate about imparting knowledge and advice to those wanting to progress in their competition shooting. (If you’re already in AA...
I’m not running off in a stroppy huff, so folk can message me if needed etc. But I’m semi retired from my main job and will likely be starting at a very reputable shooting ground in the near future part time, so also don’t want to get into anything controversial online. 👍
Just to finish on this topic (it would be rude to not reply before I step back on here).
Robden, of course you are correct. It’s actually not possible to only see the clay. You NEED to see the barrels, but you would FOCUS on the clay. The barrels are so big and close you can’t avoid knowing...
So, years and years on this forum and indeed its predecessor. Often wondering why these days. I think I’ve done what was worth it. I can feel myself sounding a bit repetitive so not sure there is more to add. Now feeling an increasing “vibe” of less friendly. The very best wishes to all on here...
I never try and sound abrasive myself, so I share your concern. Apologies if I sounded dismissive but my concern for your most productive next steps are the reason I’m on a forum. I merely was trying to impart the idea (with a fair amount of experience) that the idea of concentrating on the clay...
Ben, I’d bet the sort of shots you’re talking are close targets? Perhaps rabbits? With less lead needed the gun is necessarily far more in sight with the target but surely the FOCUS bias is on the clay every time.
Redricks today. A decent round of clays for sure. After stand 8 I was 3 away and wondered if perhaps going Comp had been a reasonable investment. After stands 9,10 and 11 I quickly realised it hadn’t been. Ho hum. That’s Sporting for you. 😖😅
I have absolutely no idea what the rib on my gun looks like. I’ve shot 17000 cartridges through it. Once you’re happy you are lined up and slightly above it you should never see it again. All focus in your sight picture is out there on the clays.
Always good to see the stars talk, but somebody really needed to direct AM into not asking GD five questions at once, leaving GD overloaded and then understandably answering with something slightly unrelated.
I’m massively impressed by Georges shooting over his illustrious career but I’m fairly convinced he’s not the best scientific resource in the game. Anybody with a calculator will soon figure out shot string doesn’t really exist as a usable entity, especially on close targets like skeet. I...
Is she just shooting clays? Assuming she’s over about 12 and not built like a hairclip, is it time to trade in the 20g for a 12g? They aren’t even necessarily much heavier and the recoil is likely to be less and the ammo choice vastly wider and cheaper.
Got talked into doing SKD today at Bisley in the 40mph winds. Character building! Actually managed a 94 having missed a few early on then sussed a method to cope with the gusts. All without any units of lead employed either. 😅
