As some of you know I have "come by" a new gun. In the summer I bid on a gun at Richard and Tania's Charity day.
Long story short this is the gun from that bid.
I thought I would share it with the Shootclay members.
It's a Summit Ascent 30"
Comes as standard with an adjustable stock and adjustable trigger for LOP.
Very nice wood and a full compliment of Maxis chokes.
It weighs 8lb 10oz out of the box.
As you see it has a 10mm raised rib but not super high.
It's designed to give a more "head up" mount for better target acquisition.

Arrival day after collection from my RFD

I shot FITASC as Coniston. Hmmm baptism of FIRE. 41/100 scored. It was long, too long for me and it punished me shooting gun down.
I did shoot DTL and scored my best score ever 24/25 only two second barrel scores. So it shot where I wanted.

I asked Ed for advice as to where to get the stock adjusted.
He advised Malcolm Jenkins, brilliant news as he is ten minutes from my work.

We mounted the gun a few times and quickly he ascertained the length and pitch required.
I asked for a wood butt plate.

Nothing he had would fit so he said he would make one.
What a cracking guy so many stories.

Nicky T had some chokes ready for me so I'm fully Mullered up too.

Here is the finished gun.

So now the learning starts with the new gun.

Sent from my mobile that's my excuse for typos and errors.

Lovely club house lovely ground Dtl not the easiest bit of a weird background to get used to so your score was good !

That's a lovely looking piece of kit, I hope you get on with it well.

Yes I enjoyed the ground a lot.
Lovely club house.
The FITASC beat me up but I could rely on the new gun excuse.
Enjoyed DTL for sure.

I like the DTL there too, with the big hill right behind the trap house. I got the sensation of shooting down on the clays, found it nice. I think they have dtl comps there sometimes?

Its an aquired taste of a background.

Yes they have about 3 a year rob north of England selection and lancs stuff

Cool beans, shooting there next month again I think, looking forward to it already. Beautiful ground.

Also, very nice guns Jem!

First run out with the new Caesar to Catton Hall last Sunday (27th Oct)

Windy but dry set of targets nothing silly.

I guess the shoot was won on 95+

I won C class on 81

The gun felt great, super pointable yet solid if that makes sense?

No noticeable recoil.

The Muller chokes gave great breaks, even smoking a few targets which is pleasing for me.

I couldn't be happier.
