I've been looking for a very light, bright you could say mustard coloured stock on a new Browning Ultra XS Prestige 32" barrel Gun if possible, I'm

wanting a back up gun but fancy a very light stock.  :nyam:

So if anyone knows of one anywhere if they could let me know as I've been looking and trying for over 6 month's for one.  :girlcrazy:

Light colour or light weight?

Light coloured wood or paint job?

Nope, Only Original Light coloured Wood will do, say an English Walnut or Maple...  :nyam:

So...is this additional woodwork that you want...to go on your new Ultra XS?  Or do you not have the gun yet?

Coz they only come from the factory in a certain colour...this is Browning, we are talking about.  They are stained and none of them are English Walnut...if you want a nice bit of Birdseye or Tiger Maple, then you will have to have a stock made.

Like this sort of thing?

If you went fro a stock with some nice Bear Claw in it (as it sounds, like claw marks) and had the stock stripped and re-finished, it may well come up lighter...not quite Maple though.

This will be for a new back up Gun that I will purchase when available, the picture above shows a good light coloured stock, I would probably be

looking for a grade 4 or 5 though.

I've seen pictures like this only to be dissapointed because the flash of the camera has made it look lighter than it really is.

This would probably come up quite light, especially if bleeched

This one is quite light already

Only thing I've seen anywhere near that light coloured was on a K gun. Might have to be a custom job...

Well..that is a bit of maple mate.

Thing is...they don't just randomly stick awesome bits of wood on off the shelf guns...the Prestige will have a nice bit of wood on it, nicer than the regular XS...but they don't do graded wood as such...you can't by an Ultra XS "Grade 5".  A grade 4 or 5, which is exhibition grade wood, would cost £1500 plus, just for the stock blank.

Nobody makes an off the shelf, few thousand quid gun with highly figured maple stocks on them.

Have a chat with this guy, he is in Meopham near Gravesend http://www.gunstockblanks.co.uk/BLANKS.ASP?id=2&id2=Custom%20Stocks&id10=54 he may be able to source a nice bit of honey coloured walnut for you, and then get your stock duplicated by machine.
