I've posted a full report over on the main site - but as forum members Bob_P, Woo_P and myself are out here, we thought that the forum only dwellers might like some updates as well:

  • Flights over were uneventful, apart from some unacceptable delays for customs to see our guns off at Heathrow - rubbish organisation by the various teams at the airport, god knows what it'll be like for the Worlds or the Olympics.
  • Hotel is pretty good - about 30 mins from the SG
  • SG is OK, bit of varied terrain, scrubby but with some nice trees. Will get some decent pics up later
  • Organisation is pretty good - a 'village' of tents with shops, concessions etc as well as some food outlets and refreshments stands. Cartridges ordered were here OK, priced a little high, but not silly €6.50 a box for Hull Pro Ones.
  • Practice - 3 parcours set up and open, we think left over from the GP last weekend. 3 euros for 8 targets (effectively 9 euros for a parcours worth of practice) - trappers are very generous, letting us try some targets that were missed and letting us try different doubles.
  • Targets - nothing outrageous so far, as you would expect, some quick edgy crossers and some long, loping incomers and loopers.. all good fun so far.

So - we're pretty relaxed, a quick shoot yesterday to warm up and probably the same this afternoon ahead of the opening ceremony, bbq and a shooting exhibition from some of the top boys. Will post some snaps, and report back this evening.

Matt, well done but some of us forum dwellers should have been there but could not get cover. :p

Thanks for publishing today Henry! Some updates from Team ShootClay

  • Decent bit of practice, about 5 or 6 parcours, some lovely targets, nothing unhittable.
  • Warm, but some cloud cover - still very dusty
  • Opening ceremony was OK, good to see the national teams
  • Good exhibition shoot - really enjoyed watching some big names having fun
  • Bumped into Ed & Glen here - as well as most of the big names, met loads of shooters from around the world.
  • Loads of chaos as we picked up squad numbers, times, and bib numbers etc - we waited it out with a drink!
  • Great aerobatic display as we waited for the opening ceremony.

Some photos - obviously not as good as a pro like Henry, but some snaps from me...

Shame, would have loved to see you here... my first experience of one of these, but will not be my last - lots of fun.

Some realy good shots! You need to buy a Canon EOS 5d MkIII or a G10 if on a budget! Nice pics of GD!

Be carefull with the Porto!

Henry

Henry... I don't drink much... So no worries there, definitely a new camera in my future.

Sent from my Windows Phone 7 using Board Express

Very impressive number of entries from different nations  , GD is lying joint 34th with only 3 misses X 50 targets so far  .

Day three - pretty good, first two layouts for me and Bob - I did Beretta and Salgado , Bob did Felisol and Hull - really good fun, multicultural squads and some great targets. Second parcours I was really happy being straight through 2 pegs, then dropped a bunch of shots on a tough peg.

Getting hotter by the day, and tomorrow we are shooting in the afternoon... big bottles of water are the order of the day.

Didn't take many pics today as I was trying to focus on shooting a bit - but here are a few of the Salgado layout.

How did Denise shoot so well?

The French doctor assigned to the teams once told me to drink at least 500ML of water before and the same duting the Parcour otherwise the brain will shut down!

Henry

I drunk more than that during the morning and it is only getting hotter... forecasting 36deg on Sunday for the Final day.

Heading off to the ground in a while, afternoon rotation on day two means starting shooting at about midday. Pics later.
