Is there a reason behind this?   I have just got back in after a walk with some friends. One of the topicsxwas how many rabbits there  are compared to last year and Bats. Also mentioned was that we've never seen so many pigeons about. The flaming things are even  sat in the middle of the road.

Chris Packhams group Wild Justice have legally challenged Natural England and the way they issue the general licenses for pest control and 16 species of birds. Corvids, pigeons etc.

Basically at the minute NE say that the shooter has to decide if all non lethal methods of control have been used and lethal force is the only way forward to control the pest. WJ say that this is irresponsible on NE part and it should be NE that decides if lethal force is necessary not the shooter or controller. NE couldn't defend the challenge so have had to remove the general licenses immediately and instigate a review of the system.

Basically it looks like you will have to apply for a license to shoot pests in the future from NE so that NE have confirmed it as the only course of action available not the shooter making that decision. This could be a slow process and not always be granted.

You can send in a NE complaints form outlining how the Chris Packham and his tree huggers have no idea how farmers fight to keep pigeon off their crop and why would NE back down to their demand without consultation with the  farmers union, CLA, BASC etc etc.

We have also sent a petition in via 'The Hunting Life Forum'

Here is the form to complete we think for each perm.....................WTF

Thank you.

I presume that the licence was applied as intended when drawn up/agreed. It sounds as if they are making it up as they go along.

I suggest then that NE declare the  licence no.longer exists.  In which case no one is breaking any law.

By virtue of the wording it will be illegal to shoot clay pigeons from midnight tonight .
