I have attended a club where they don't use a hooter when a shooter misses the target. Instead the ref shouts  "zero!" Now that would be fine but I found that what tended to happed was the ref's shout was just not loud enough to be heard. This can lead to confusion that the shooter may think he in fact broke the target when in fact he had not. It happened to me a couple of times and  although I knew I had missed for an instant I thought the ref had given the target. I think it is important that the shooter knows the ref has judged him a miss even more so in the case where the shooter thinks he has hit hears no sound and then at the end of the round finds out he was judged a miss. What are the thoughts of seasoned tarpies. I contacted the club and the said hooters are available but they tend not to use them because they don't want to disturb the other shooters
