Only ever used it on the rare clay that starts as a distant crosser and loops into you.  Its more hit and miss than other techniques I think.  

WRT to the first bit - huge chunks of highly coloured plastic are available to put in the breach of a pump action or auto that stops the bolt closing and getting anywhere near a cartridge. Easily as safe as a broken OU or SxS. Shoot, insert plug, step away from stand. easy peasy. To really set...

3. 12 gauge Over/under as go to clay gun. 12 guage pump action with synthetic stock for bad weather, pigeons (and a few clays) and putting a smile on my face. 16 guage SxS for game days. I feel I have most angles covered. 

Gun on clay. No lead . They slow down quick so check your speed.

Bought a 20g SxS for some rough shooting coming soon. 

Surely the easiest solution is that if any shooter abuses a referee they are asked to leave and rest of the stands left to shoot registered as 0/10. Hitting their average will hurt more than anything else I suspect.

Eyed up a new gun.  Stripped and cleaned the weatherby. 

I like that camouflage paint is specifically banned. Amazing.
