I would go for 1/2 but if it was an auto I was shooting I'd prefer 3/8 just because I've had success with it before 

a right hand and left hand 'sweet spot' may not be in the same place !

some grease on the threads and hand tighten before and after ever stand

I shoot Olympics as often as I can with no problems ever, I've had the odd miss fire with other brands but I just put them back in again and they work second time around no biggie!  if someone wants to sponsor me with 'the worst shells around' I'd be very happy and I could only hope i could do...

I have some shells at home in our collection with different cases from the name on the brass - Fiocchi & Hull is one of them - I might even have a full box of them

rub it over with boiled linseed oil and 0000 grade wire wool  this will do no harm and should lift the sticky mess then when it is cleaned off use the linseed oil again and it will look good again.
