I would say that the reason Peeters lost is because he was moving. The one that he missed in the end he was moving in the direction of the target but far to flat and had to adjust upwards when the target came out, he was treading a very fine line with that tactic. 

It's only bad if you are someone who likes to know where the target is going and try and spot shoot it/adjust to give yourself a bit of an advantage. If you are shooting what comes out the trap it doesn't matter if your first or last.

Sounds very much like Loch Ness not all to long ago actually...I remember shooting there when I first started shooting OT, maybe 7-8 years ago, they still had 2 fully hand loaded ranges complete with bunker buzzers and horns for misses.

The Qatar Open is quite a pricey event. The last time I was there the cartridges were coming in at $10 a box of 25, more if you wanted the better shells. It is far cheaper to go for a week to Spain training than it is to go to the Qatar Open currently.

Kippen hasn't been a two layout OT ground for a while. The second layout has been unused for as long as I have been shooting due to ongoing issues with the neighbouring farm. 

It could probably be said that the most missed target at any trap discipline would be a straight away target not just because of the complacency on the target but also because of the lack of shot string.

The angle is deceiving. Those houses are quite far away when you are actually down there. You can walk out and look at the drop off from the edge of the ZZ/Pigeon ring and see that they are pretty far away. The noise would still be bad but the Spanish are shooting daft so it likely doesn't...

I played around with Skeet and Cylinder chokes when I was training in Spain, they can turn them to dust with a 24gm shell just as easily as anything else.

I haven't personally but Nathan Hales uses one quite successfully. Any gun can be good in the hands of someone who trusts it and has good shooting ability.
