    footwear

I have, in the past, worn the lifting shoes. They are great so long as you get a decent pair. There are many different types and some have rigid rubber platforms while others have wood, mine had wood. The rubber ones tend to flex and can be spongy which isn't ideal, the solid ones are good as...

    shooting the bits

Not necessarily, I shot a few rounds of OT with skeet/cylinder when I was in Spain purely to see what, if any difference, choke really made and to be honest skeet and cylinder turned them into powder just as much as going up through the tighter chokes. It is quite subjective though on how fast...

    OT rule query

Well once the target has been registered for the previous shooter, as in the bird is either lost or killed, you are supposed to have 12 seconds to mount and call for your target which is rule 9.7.3(a) but I generally don't see that enforced anywhere except for ISSF events where you can and will...

    Ed's in the finals

I would say that the reason Peeters lost is because he was moving. The one that he missed in the end he was moving in the direction of the target but far to flat and had to adjust upwards when the target came out, he was treading a very fine line with that tactic.

    Ed's in the finals

It's only bad if you are someone who likes to know where the target is going and try and spot shoot it/adjust to give yourself a bit of an advantage. If you are shooting what comes out the trap it doesn't matter if your first or last.

    refing

Sounds very much like Loch Ness not all to long ago actually...I remember shooting there when I first started shooting OT, maybe 7-8 years ago, they still had 2 fully hand loaded ranges complete with bunker buzzers and horns for misses.

Scores as they are posted off Nutty Facebook.

    Nutty

It was a good shoot overall. Some pretty monster scores posted which is encouraging but also a far cry form the Nutty of old where scores were generally pretty low. Likely the banking helping as I used to find the targets left the traps fast as anything then died in height and speed as they got...

    winter training in the sun

The Qatar Open is quite a pricey event. The last time I was there the cartridges were coming in at $10 a box of 25, more if you wanted the better shells. It is far cheaper to go for a week to Spain training than it is to go to the Qatar Open currently.

    winter training in the sun

Training in miserable weather is all well and good but it has a time and a place. On the run up to the season you would rather be training in consistent conditions because you will have consistent results which in turn will be good for your confidence where as in miserable, variable weather you...

    OT Selection Shoots 2016

Kippen hasn't been a two layout OT ground for a while. The second layout has been unused for as long as I have been shooting due to ongoing issues with the neighbouring farm.

    Bogey birdtha

It could probably be said that the most missed target at any trap discipline would be a straight away target not just because of the complacency on the target but also because of the lack of shot string.

    Odd trap ground

The angle is deceiving. Those houses are quite far away when you are actually down there. You can walk out and look at the drop off from the edge of the ZZ/Pigeon ring and see that they are pretty far away. The noise would still be bad but the Spanish are shooting daft so it likely doesn't...

    OT gun weight

I currently use 4/8 &  5/8 in my gun. Don't need anymore than that. Powders any target thrown from a trap house, first or second barrel.

    OT gun weight

I was using the cheapest shell they sold at Jarapalo (Rio something or other I think) so I don't really think higher end stuff would have made any more of a mess of them than the ones I were using. If you are on the target correctly then regardless of choke they will be minced. I shot a 22/25...

    OT gun weight

I played around with Skeet and Cylinder chokes when I was training in Spain, they can turn them to dust with a 24gm shell just as easily as anything else.

I have the Ellipse Evo 32" trap model. Excellent gun.

New to Shooting advice - Dundee

I've shot a lot at Auchterhouse and know the Christies (owners) quite well. I started off shooting Skeet there back when I first got into clays. It is a really nice and well maintained ground. There is also the Scottish Clay Shooting Centre just across the Tay Bridge. I believe they shoot skeet...

    Blaser F3

I haven't personally but Nathan Hales uses one quite successfully. Any gun can be good in the hands of someone who trusts it and has good shooting ability.
