    Shoot reports and news 2024

English open at Doveridge for me yesterday. Great competition, excellent targets in a fantastic setting, my first time at Doveridge. Round went like clock work, no delays, no queues and very few no birds. Thought the targets were excellent, nothing too stupid but plenty of testing birds. Very...

    To Choke Or Not ?

This isn't a new problem for Teague. I ordered two optima hp 1/4 extended chokes in October last year, and they both come back with imperfections. Luckily for me it was on the section that screwed into the gun so wasn't as much of an issue so not worth rectifying. Its also worth noting that...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Orston for me on Sunday, it was the Notts county champs and a Derbyshire selection shoot (i was just there for a standard registered as i'm neither county) so turn out was very strong indeed. Turn out 2 weeks prior was around 96, this week was 202. Took just over 2 hrs to shoot which wasn't bad...

    beretta 694

Modern beretta barrels come in 3 different formats, all with optima hp chokes now I believe. Steelium - 80mm cones - silver pig etc Steelium plus - 320mm cones - 694 etc Steelium pro - 450mm cones - dt11 etc

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Orston for me on Sunday, first time there in a couple of years. Great set of targets even with the wind. Finished on an 83 and that was with one stand with 5 away, just couldn't get a plan sorted for a good distance springing teal on stand 7 and dropped 3 of the B birds on stand 6. Started...

    Gun for the Mrs ?

Those B125's are stunning guns. Mate of my dads have a decent grade one years ago, good value way of owning the original B25 action.

Which felt/fibre wad cartridge for optima and other backbored guns?

I've got a dt11 with the supposedly massively over bored barrels and ridiculously long forcing cones and shoot either superfast or tt1 in 24 gram fibre with 1/4 teague choke and it does the business to well in excess of 50 yards. I've never noticed any problems with fibres, my ability runs out a...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Did my first registered esp since the british this last weekend. Went to Blyton in Lincs, nice round of entertaining clays, nothing too silly. Slipped up badly on stand 4 with only a 2 out of 8 that just wasn't good enough. Finished on 81 which wasn't too bad, but definitely 5 or 6 light of a...

Another price increase for cartridges at end of January

I would also guess that labour, utilities, insurance and general overheads make up a massive share of todays costs. Bulk lead won't be a massive percentage cost these days.

    Higher visibility front beads ?

I've had a go with both but finally settled on a small white bead. I tried to use a coloured bead as a reference for rabbit clays etc for precision, but my eyes just don't work that way. I just look at a patch of air in front of the target and the bead and barrel dissappear from my vision.

    CPSA smiles on the north!

The booking system seems to work well enough, I've always managed to book myself and others on no problem. The problem is the huge level of demand. If anything the cpsa needs to look at how to expand these events to get more people participating.

Beretta 694 barrel regulation - can it be adjusted?

I can't help but think that the OP is looking at this too closely, where the rib points and where the gun shoots when mounted are two completely different things. If the gun shoots where you're looking, happy days. If you watch any major manufacturer make a set of barrels it's a pretty crude...

    Been away..................................quite a while.

My Dad has a 694 and I have a dt11. The dt11 is just that little bit better in all departments, but the 694 is still excellent. I would also go along with Ben's comments on the 694, it's probably a bit easier to get along with if you're not sure how you like a gun and also comes in 50 and 56mm...

    Fore end grip

I have experimented with various pre shot routines and found that the shorter it is the better for me, but that is what suits me. I do find that I sometimes wiggle my fingers on the forend, not sure why, just a reflex. Everyone is free to conduct themselves in the cage how they wish, none of it...

    Mid level Competition cartridge

If you can stand a Plas wad the fblu are brilliant value for money. Attached is a recent pattern I did through my dt11 with a teague 1/4 choke at 40 yards. Pellet count shows a 65% pattern in a 30" circle that equates to a 3/4. Lovely even pattern as well.

East Yorkshire shooting ground to close

When you read some of the comments on their Facebook post there appears to be some criticism aimed at the committee members and trustees of the ground that lease it to the Halls, but not sure what the problem is though.
