Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Well done Will! I was the ref on stand 14 who had to call the "no bird". Looking at your card, I realised something special was going on and sympathised with you. very well shot Mr Hewland !

Sporting shoots. Where - and how did it go?

Yes it did lead to some petulant foot stamping from one shooter! ?

Sporting shoots. Where - and how did it go?

Any comments/news/scores concerning the Benelli Semi Auto gig at Southdown yesterday?

    eley select or summat

Strangely enough, I was looking for Eley Superbs, which I still cannot find a definitive answer as to whether they are still made or not. Some distributors will give varying replies. Do you know? I was also looking for a fibre cart in 28g to use ar Bisley Pay and Play last week. I came by 1st...

    Purbeck Shooting School

I'm thinking of nipping down the M3/M27 to Purbeck on Wednesday 25th November to do the registered. Has anyone been there recently? What are the targets like? How does it compare to Owls Lodge and Churchills? As I only get chance to do registereds mid week, due to a couple of reasons, I would...

    Muller Chokes

Nick is a great bloke as well, very keen to offer advice and changed a choke for a friend of mine who had some issues. I've used them, without any trouble. The U1 and U2 will hit pretty well all sporting clays that you come across.

    Recoil Protection

Thanks people, there is a lot of food for thought there. I like the idea of a winter stock or perhaps a proper gunfit in an attempt to get the definitive answer. Thanks for all the input.

    Recoil Protection

Thanks Will, you're right it was Bisley with the Fibres! I'll give the varying thickness pads a go then, a great deal less recoil on the wallet as well.

    Recoil Protection

I suppose I am being taken in by the marketing hype. Would the ISIS pads be adequate as I find one of my favourite carts (Hull Superfast) give me a bit of a thump?

    Recoil Protection

I realise this topic has been probably been covered in the past but here goes. I have recently purchased an MX12/3 with an adjustable comb. In my summer plumage its standard LOP (15 ins)  is ok and fits well, but I know when the temp starts to fall I will need to shorten the LOP somehow. A way...

    Southdown Cartridge Question

Totally agree with Simbo. The location is truly stunning and Bob is trying hard to shake it up. I really hope he succeeds! When you are down to your skeet vest and polo shirt, there is no better place to shoot. As the targets can all be shown as a sim pair makes all the difference as well.

    Cheshire shield

Great day out. My favourite stand was number 11, with the green clay racing down the gully following the blaze toppling off the cliff. Missed a few, but what a challenge! Least favourite was stand 14, which was the incomer, that may or may not, ended up between the forked tree with the sim...

    20 Gauge Cartridge Choice

Cheers Westley, it recycled the 28gs with no problem and while I was shooting the 21s it sporadically failed to go off. An onlooker advised me to bring the gun in tighter to the shoulder and it cured it. It's not a new gun but still very tight. I will rarely use it with 21gs but I think i will...

    Beretta DT10 EELL

I have one of these beautys with 32ins barrels but in game scene. It handles absolutely brilliantly and now I have the balance bang on the hinge pin after changing the recoil pad to a micro core. You will not be disappointed and you are in a great position as the DT11 will shortly be available...

    20 Gauge Cartridge Choice

Thanks everyone. I have since learnt that the fibre carts I was using from Hull are "ultra low recoil". I will get some of the "Amber " carts for my wife and try some 24gram plastics for myself and see if that does the trick.
