    Avalon Guns - WIN

Purchased a Bettinsoli from them, which they exported for me to Calgary. Really good service!!

    Shot size

I have been using Super Target T1's in 24g/7.5 for DTL, but the place I get them have run out, but have 24g/8's. Will the increase in shot counter the reduction in size and still break clays out to about 40 yds?

    Oiling end of stock

I've noticed that the end of my stock along the edge of the recoil pad seems to be drying out, it looks dull compared to the rest of the stock. I had the stock shortened before the pad was fitted. Should I remove the pad and oil the bare end of the stock before refitting the pad?

    Shooting with both eyes open

I was having the same problem, and tried closing my left eye, which helped. So I tried magic dots (a lots less mess than Vaseline), and these have really helped.

    Newbie, Newbie Questions

I spent ages reviewing the available guns here, which I'm sure you have found is limited. It seems to be the Stoeger's and CZ's which from reviews are guns with a short lifespan or $3,000+ Brownings, and not much in between. I ended up importing a Bettinsoli from England and really like it. I...

    Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Hi, welcome from another Calgary member. I'm assuming that you are referring to Silver Willow, which for me would be over 100 Km away. I am currently restricting myself to trap shooting at DeWinton which is only 15 Km and $6.00 a round. I'm finding that challenging enough!

    Small paint chip on barrel

I have acquired a couple of tiny chips as well. I've use a Sharpie to touch them up, and it seems to cover them up pretty well on a gloss finish barrel. Not sure it would work on a satin or matt finish.

    Clever Mirage T1's

Thanks for the info, I might give them a try as they are about the same price here - $240.00 (about 164 pounds). Unfortunately I have only seen the T1's, no T2 or 3's, and getting anything in 24g or 28g at the moment is really difficult, everybody seems to use 32g.

    Clever Mirage T1's

In Canada we seem to be limited in what shells we can get. I use Federal Top Gun as they are the cheapest by a couple of dollars a box. However I have just found a supplier who stocks Clever Mirage T1's at about the same price, and would like to get peoples view on them. Thanks

    Winter breaks from shooting?

Might be forced to take breaks anytime between October and May, as the temperature may get down to -30 during that time, although the Chinooks can get us up to +10

    No 24's only 28's

First time I went shooting with my son we had 24's for me (o/u) and 28's for my son who has a semi auto. The instructor took a box of each, poured them into his pockets and gave us whatever came out. To be honest I couldn't tell the difference! And my son's semi cycled the 24's quite happily...
