    Squad size

The ICTSA have not published this change on their website so it is hardly official policy. May be a Ground has tried it but a bit more detail would be good to get. The CPSA is Not the governing body of Clay Shooting and the ICTSA operates within the rules and guidelines as laid out by the...

    ABT history

I’ve heard it said that UT is ‘fair’ Ball Trap. Very popular in Continental Europe. More accessible than OT (with the exception of Italy).

    ABT history

The ‘White Flyer’ Trap made it possible and as most were using it for DTL it was possible to offer the Ball trap alternative. Of course the ‘game’ of Ball trap has been changed and went from an Arc shooting line like DTL to a straight line like OT and then to facilitate OT layouts the distances...

    Trap / DTL shooting position

Maybe ‘almost rifle shooting’ the target might work at DTL it wouldn’t get you far at Ball Trap and would probably guarantee you’d only try Olympic Trap once.

    Recoil

Saw a man with a semi auto shoot the S&Bs at clays. There was a muffled pop at the first clay of a pair and a load of confetti appeared at the second clay. He finished the stand and got a big surprise when he noticed a large bulge in the barrel.  I suppose he was lucky not to have lost some...

    Sporting with a Trap Stock

Is a trap stock just higher in the comb than a sporting stock. Seems from looking at some famous British shooters on YouTube that they’re using Trap stocks for both game and clays. It also seems that the idea that a higher comb leads to a high POI is not universally believed either. Beginning to...

    Video-World English Sporting 2016

Can’t find video of 2016 Workd Championship English Sporting. Won by Anthony Mararese.  Nothing that I can find on YouTube. Thought the final, at least would be there by now.

    A newcomers take on OT

Lucky that you have the club and obviously the volunteers to run it. Is it different over there, do the members not leave it to a few guys to do all the work and if they do, how long does it take them to become completely pissed off and then do another few guys step up until they suffer the same...

    Buying 1990 Perazzi MX8

One big advantage of a Perazzi is the easy change of the Stock from a trap gun to a sporting gun thus eliminating the need to buy another gun. Add on Teague chokes and the Perazzi becomes the best all-rounder out there. In my opinion of course.

    OT Target distance in Italy

Have heard that the target distance has been reduced in Italian grounds for non elite shooters.  They saw numbers dropping off and took action to make it a little easier. Seems it worked.  Would a similar move around these parts encourage more participation I wonder. Especially when the sun...

    Bye Bye Double Trap ???

Fort Benning's enlisted men will turn their attention back to OT and that's not great news for the rest of the medal hopefuls throughout Europe.

    Squeeze or Slap the Trigger

Slapping the trigger is an American expression which describes the difference between the two methods. Its not made up by me and try Googling the expression for a bit of Shotgun education that might help with knowledge as well as contributing to humility.

    Squeeze or Slap the Trigger

have been experimenting with both. I'm finding that squeezing starts with the finger resting on the trigger whereas slapping starts with the finger just off the trigger. Coming down in favour of the slap. Find its a better method when timing the shot. Interested in hearing different viewpoints...

    Italian Shot Size

Seems the Italians don't want to know about English 7 1/2 shot size and only load 24 gram in their own version which equates to English 7. One Italian maker loads 7 1/4 shot Italian. Took some of the latter to the pattern plate and got a shock at the lack of pellets in the pattern leading me to...
