    No Shotgun Ticket Anytime Soon

Fingers crossed it's not that long. It's taken 8months already. I would hate it to be 10 months plus.

    No Shotgun Ticket Anytime Soon

At last, I finally had my visit from my local firearms officier today and been given the all clear.... Just have to wait now for the brown envelope to arrive. Its been about 8 months in the waiting! Now the hunt is on for a suitable lefthanded shotgun.

    No Shotgun Ticket Anytime Soon

35000 grants and renewals is a lot, but its also a lot of our money going into there pockets and we should get a better service for our money. A rough calculation - 35K times £50 (the cheapest fee, renewal) is 1.75 million per year for just one region. That should buy you quite a big team to...

    No Shotgun Ticket Anytime Soon

So it can be done in 4 to 8 weeks, great news and enjoy your shooting. So why do other regions take 10 times more time than this and why can't the drudgery be done nationally, leaving the local FEO's to do the inspects etc. This would average out the delays. Great news and congratulations.

    No Shotgun Ticket Anytime Soon

That's ridiculous, if all is in order and no issues on the visit. Why 6 weeks to issue the certificate. They hand drawing the bloody thing! Surely its only a couple of key presses and pop the cert in the post. You would think they would release the cert as soon as possible if all clear. If only...

    No Shotgun Ticket Anytime Soon

I suspect its not the people of the ground, as i'm sure they want to do a good job, but the number of people on the ground or there employers and/or hoops they have to jump through. It does seem to be getting worse and at an exponential rate. Its very frustrating from a new gun's perspective...

    No Shotgun Ticket Anytime Soon

West Mercia's Web Site has been updated once more and new grant amongst others have slipped again. The wait is now 8months. But could be as much as 12 months. Its gone from 4-6 weeks to 6 months to 8 months, possibly 12 months in only a couple of months. There statement from the web site is as...

    Praise where its due

As they state on there web site, the times stated are to begin the process and not the completed application. Still not a satisfactory state of affairs. I know they are in a big hole at the moment and the guy's on the ground are doing there best in with a dreadful situation. It needs the...

    Praise where its due

Good to hear you got good service from West Mercia. im currently waiting on a new grant and looking at an 8 month wait minimum. i appreciate they are having issues, but is 8 months a fare wait. And is it fare for them to bank my money before starting the process. I understand they have only...

Miroku Mk38 - Can they be cast

Thanks everyone. From what I can pull together from the above suggestions is 1.  Buy a true left Miroku and just wait for it to arrive, as modifying the cast is a compromise and not guaranteed to stay in cast. 2.  Look for true left alternative - Browning for example... 3.  Have a stock made...

Miroku Mk38 - Can they be cast

Thanks Andy... I'll keep you in mind when my ticket arrives I'll definitely keep looking as its going to be sometime for my ticket to arrive in this area. Thanks Paul, I would buy a new lefty if the delivery was going to be prompt, but I have been advised it would take many months to arrive...

Miroku Mk38 - Can they be cast

That's good to hear it can be done, as out of the guns I have shot to date the MK38 feels the most natural. The thought of waiting months and months for a left hander from Miroku if not longer and after a long wait for my ticket to arrive would have been extremely frustrating.

Miroku Mk38 - Can they be cast

I'm a new shooter and taking lessons in readiness for my ticket to arrive. I been shooting various guns including a Miroku and it feels right for me as a first gun. I shoot off my left shoulder and the gun I have been using is for a right shoulder, the sight picture off center to the right and a...
